Hi guys, I have been playing with hades 1 since yesterday. Yesterday i have played with the game for like 3-4 hours and today suddenly all of my saves were gone so I thought no big deal i start a new one but when i turned off the game and quit to the main menu i discovered that my saves are gone again. (I'm playing on pc with Xbox game pass) so what can I do to prevent this from happening again and maybe get my saves back?

I went on a trip and played about 20 hours on my steam deck. The save didn't sync to my PC and now when I log into either my pc or my steam deck I don't have the progress. How can I fix this? I see all the answers for the PC side but the progress was made on the steam deck

I have a bit of a weird problem. I’m playing on a Mac but trying to use an Xbox controller. The controller isn’t working but is connected and works for other games. I think the game wants to take inputs from the keyboard instead of the controller. Is there a way to make it prioritize the controller or forget about the keyboard? I would just unplug it but can’t bc it’s a laptop

I'd also suggest going into the Properties for the game through Steam and try enabling or disabling Steam Input

Disabled steam input at first and it wasn’t working. Just now enabled it again while the game was launched and now it works fine. Not sure why but it works! Thanks

im having a weird problem with both Hades and Transistor on M1 MBP MacOS 15.7.2

Im using a Dualshock 3 controller. Steam reads all the inputs fine in menus but inside the games all buttons work except the face buttons

I can move, use R1/2 L1/L2

press start and select

but the only face button that works is thr triangle one

Gotcha. Have you tried Big Picture Mode, and/or forcing Steam Input off? (It might also be worth toggling Steam Input again now that you have the launch options)

Decide to swap to hades I after spamming the hell out of II. My audio freaks out after about 10 minutes of play. It'll start blipping out sound or sfx, then lose that one entirely, then do it with whichever one didn't go first. I do like having audio cues lol

Unfortunately, the new save file likely didn't save at all - this should allow it to properly save new progress.

(This most likely happened because of the computer restricting Hades's ability to save, and launching as Admin overrides that)

Unfortunate. I did look into my saved games folder for the hades and in there i see that there is a document called Profile1.sjson from 2025. Does this matter at all? Its the only document in the folder from 2025

I just had a pretty big sync issue with the Nintendo/Epic versions of Hades. After playing on my Switch, I sync and quit and load up on my PC. For some reason the PC version rolled back my save 2 years to Dec 25, 2023. Cost me 12 runs, including 4 32-Heat completions. I went back to the Switch, and the cloud save overwrote my local save. Same problem on my laptop. I don't understand why none of these devices flagged a conflict and prompted me to CHOOSE whether to keep the cloud save or local save.

This isn't the first time this has happened. I keep my first save slot frozen at 98 runs from back in 2021 because I lost 40 runs that time and ended up starting over. Losing 12 runs over the course of 2 years wouldn't be that bad, but again, I lost my last 4 32-Heat runs that were my first and only 32-Heat clears for those weapons. There has to be a way to stop this from happening.

I managed to find the local save folder on my laptop. I found a previous save backup from 12/16/2025. I copied it and renamed it Profile2.sav and replaced the save that was synced incorrectly. So now I'm only missing 3 runs and 1 32-Heat clear. Guess I'll be running the rail today.

Heyo! Sorry to hear about that, and thank you for the detailed report. If you're seeing large rollbacks like that, it might be due to a cloud backup service like OneDrive overriding the regular save system.

this is more of a general question about this error rather than a question of how to fix it (i uninstalled it and reinstalled it but i still got that message, so i checked in here and it worked when i changed to play running on vulkan instead of direct x) but other than running direct x, would this error occur because i have it installed on an expansion hard drive? or was it just because of the direct x? it played just fine on direct x yesterday so it's not like i've just been ignoring it, but the expansion harddisk is 4TB with there currently being ca 3,5TB of free space so i basically was just curious of how it would be unable to find enough memory with that much memory for it to use (i'm also not very tech savvy so i might just be ''stupid'' when it comes to these kinds of things lmao)

I'm writing to ask if you could patch in an accommodation in Hades 1. The red flashing UI when Zagreus is dying is triggering for epileptics such as myself.

I've tried modding it out with frustratingly low luck, and now I'm delegated to only being able to play your game in small bursts during daylight hours. but even that is risky to my health.

all of my friends are really excited about me playing Hades 1, but I'm frustrated I can't delve into it due to my handicap.

according to my friends this accommodation already exists in Hades 2, could you please forward this to the devs and see if this could be patched in?

Hello! I seem to have a small issue happening since i started playing again. On boss kill screens or death screens, i see a white regtangle or square for a flash of a second then it goes away. It only happens at that moment and nowhere else. I tried reinstalling, verifying files, drivers are updated..still no luck.

I will say a few years ago when i played i was using a Nvidia card. Since then i have upgraded to a AMD 9070xt. So im wondering if it being amd is affecting it? I tried vulkan launcher with no change.

Hi I got an issue regarding an interaction with the shades at the great hall in which the Listen button shows up and the light in the center of the shades does too, but no dialogue comes out and it happens in every interaction with that specific place. Is it a tech issue or a bug??

Just to update, been going through fixes and found a log file from me playing yesterday, and I noticed some errors almost exactly where I saw a graphical glitch, be it the white squares or more recently when I get boons or pom upgrades, the whole area kinda "flashes" weirdly. also the ring under the boons sometimes flashes this green color now too. I inlcuded a screenshot of one of the errors if it helps.

Sorry I hope im not being a bother, After a ton of digging, I found the vsync was broken and the game was running at 600 FPS (hoo weee) and my AMD adrenaline was glitched so I reset it and reinstalled the game and turned vsync on and now its 60FPS and I dont see the white rectangle any more and very very few and minor graphical glitches. I think im good to go again!

I know I’m not the tech support guy from here but I work as a tech support for a company so - I believe the short answer is: no. Epic has its own cloud and so does Xbox. The game itself doesn’t have a cloud server and relies on the platform it’s being played on.

I know this bc I have people asking me the same thing when they purchase it in steam and then on their console.

Hi! I'm having an issue where my Hades is refusing to read my save data. This is on a fresh install of Hades from Steam, and I've tried every option on the list, including whitelisting Hades.exe and the save folder on Windows Defender. I dont have Controlled Folder Access turned on, and I tried running as Administrator which didn't fix it. I also seem to be unable to disable the "Read-Only" permission from the save folder even after running the command as administrator and I don't have any other antivirus. What other steps can I take to fix this?

Those are possible factors, yeah. There should be a way to make it work, though, so it might just require more experimentation.

So Hades 1 crashes my windows 11 PC. A green screen flashes and the system reboots. It's not the most urgent thing to fix (I've played the majority of my playtime on my wife's PC lol) but I would love if anyone has any ideas left to try. Lately, I've managed to complete runs by chopping them into two or three sections and taking a break before the game crashes and then continuing. My current save is stuck in a room in Elysium that seems to crash after playing for a minute.

The crashing never happens in menus, in the house of Hades, or any such other areas where you aren't in combat. It's always when there's some action going on, typically in Elysium or in Nyx. The latest crashing happened two times in a row in the same room in Elysium now and curiously the Hades.log (attached) says that it's missing the file GunGrenadeToss.pkg. I'm using the rail and this file is probably related to its special that I was spamming both times. I checked file integrity and redownloaded the game and this file still seems to be missing? Is that normal?

Anyway, Pyre also had a similar issue. There, the problem was completely eliminated as soon as I ran the game windowed in a smaller resolution. No such luck here. I've fiddled with the resolution, windowed mode, disabled/enabled v-sync, tried two different monitors, fiddled with AMD's settings (capping the framerate, smoothing the framerate, and other such performance modes), running the game as admin, running the different executables (directX/Vulkan/32bit), running them in a compatibility mode, and setting some internal virtual memory cap in windows to be a bit higher. Temperatures, memory etc. other processing power usage does not seem to cap out at any point (and it's not like the fans start blaring or anything).

I ran some performance benchmarking programs and had no problems. AMD's drivers are up to date.I've tried all the performance fixes in the tech-fixes channel.

Hi, I’m having an issue with Hades on macOS (Steam).

The game works fine on Windows, but on Mac it crashes immediately on launch. I strongly suspect this is caused by cloud-synced display settings (likely fullscreen or resolution). It started right after I tried using my TV as an extended display. Since then, Hades no longer works on any of my Macs.

I’ve already tried:

• Deleting Hades folders / local files
• Reinstalling the game
• Turning off Steam Cloud
• Testing on multiple Macs (Mac mini and MacBook Air)

It was working on all of them before, and now it crashes everywhere on macOS, which makes me think Steam Cloud restored a broken config.

Does anyone know how to fully reset or delete Hades’ macOS config / video settings so it launches fresh and doesn’t pull the crashing fullscreen settings from the cloud?

Heyo! Your game settings should be located in ~/Library/Application Support/Supergiant Games/Hades, called Profile1.sjson . Deleting or removing that file may do the trick

You can also try manually overriding the display settings using the following launch options: /FullScreen=false /NoBorder=true /X=1920 /Y=1080 , replacing with your desired resolution (and optionally removing NoBorder if you want it to be a smaller window)

Once the game launches, I'd suggest using the in-game button to reset your settings, and see if that helps.

hey, I just want to report something, in the past I have issues about bsod when I play. I found the fix its the additional ram in my laptop, when I remove my addtional ram (8 gb) it runs smoothly and not having a crash. it happens only in Hades, other game i play with my additional ram doesn't have an issue. I don't ask for a fix, I say it here for you guys can investigate it, maybe there's a bug for high ram spec. for the info i have 4 gb ram onborad and 8 gb ram in addtional slot, i remove it just to play Hades

Could you try uninstalling the game, then going to Steam's game directory in your folders and making sure all game files are gone?

Then temporarily move every file in the ~/Library/Application Support/Supergiant Games/Hades folder to a different folder, so that one is empty.

Then reinstall, and instead of launching the game through Steam, launch it directly from the file.

anyways, I finished the game on windows. After failing and trying different methods I had to finish the game on windows instead of macOS. The idea was to do 10 clears and get the Credit roll I got that thing, thanks everyone anyways.

Hi, I’m having issues with cross saves from pc to switch. Whenever I I go from switch to pc my saves aren’t consistent. Whenever I make progress on PC it doesn’t carry over to switch. However, whenever I make progress on switch it overwrites my Steam no matter what. It’s just pulling the wrong Steam save for switch. Any ideas? I’ve tried a lot of trouble shooting ideas and nothing works. I don’t seem to face this issue with hades 2. It’s worth noting I’m playing on a switch 2 as well.

The main two things I did which I thought would’ve worked was backup my saves from steam on my pc so that way I didn’t lose them. I noticed when I did that I had a lot of different saves like “my pc name _.sav” something a long those lines as an example. I then would start a new game with Steam cloud saves off and then turn it off as I quit which I thought would clear Steam cloud saves. And then I would put back the saves that would matter like the temp saves and the log as well as the active profile. It didn’t matter, when I went on my switch it would still pull the wrong save even though on pc it was the current one. I would also try disconnecting Steam on hades on switch .

Yup - and apologies for the delay.

As a starting point, in terms of the files you want in your Saved Games folder, the main one that matters is Profile1.sav (some general steps for save file recovery are here: #h1-tech-fixes message )

I'd suggest making sure your Date/Time are synced on the Switch, and also launching Steam as Admin on your PC. If you want to do a bit of quicker testing, use a different save slot from your main one, running a room or two at a time on each platform to test the cross-save sync.

In this case, check the Switch's system settings - sometimes if the Date or Time aren't properly synced, the timestamps can generate incorrectly and that can cause issues with cross-save.

Hi, sorry for the delay back. So I’ve been testing it some more and I’m not sure what else to do. I lost my current run in the process but I think my save file as a whole is still in tact. I’ve tried clearing my sav files in my computer, on my rog ally that I also use. It is just not syncing with my switch 2 properly. It’s even pulling a no data file so I’m really stumped.

I think I got it behaving correctly again. But, I don’t think it was anything to do with my devices. I think the hades switch 1 version needs to be updated in some capacity so this doesn’t affect others. As like I said, I don’t have this problem with the switch 2 version of hades 2 - pc - rog ally.

I had to clear out my steam cloud saves. There’s no easy way to do this which is why I lost my current run, basically backup your saves (I ended up not backing up the one with the current run) then start a new save file and progress only to the next room after escaping your house. Once saved it’ll upload that new save to the cloud. I went into my saves folder on windows and replaced it with my existing save file.

A little complicated because I’m not sure what files the switch 2 was pulling from the cloud but for now it seems to be working

I got it working again, there’s definitely something up. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. When it doesn’t work it takes a while for the syncing and eventually fails. I have to delete the current save on switch completely, re-login to Steam. I think it’s something on the backend that needs to be fixed.

I’m not sure if there’s anything that can fix this but I just played a run this morning and died and was back in the house. And I talked to everyone and walked into the weapon room before quitting the game. Do the same thing I have been doing since I started playing last weekend. I went to take a shower and then play some more but when I came back it undid that entire run. It’s fully gone and is like it’s the first time I opened this morning. I found the stuff to go look through the sav files and rename them but all of the sav or sav.bak files I have are from 2 days ago when I last played. I have some things that are from today but they are not exactly the same type. Is it all lost or can I recover? It’s not the worst thing in the world but I was very annoyed as I got a lot of resources that run

-edit it seems like my c drive where the saves were was being weird so I had to restart so I think it’s just lost as it though it was full when it should’ve had like 30gb of space 🤷‍♀️

Yes, joycons work in steam, both big picture and normal steam, i can change settings using joy cons, when i click on steam input, they get detected as ninendo switch controller, if i enter hades 2 they work normally as they should, but if i enter hades 1 the cursor appears and all the buttons except acreenshoot one are non responsive

I tried putting those 2 commands in, reconnecting the joycons, renaming them, turning off and on steam input both while the game is running and while its not and they dont work

It might be worth restarting your computer, if you haven't already. You could also try using the launch options /AllowControlHotSwap=false /UseMouse=false (in addition to the earlier ones)

The macbook is showing it as an Xbox 360 controller but it's a cheap controller from a domestic company called Zebronics (the game runs fine in windows with the same model when I played in windows).

It's unfortunately possible that OneDrive reverted the save files, since they're in the Documents folder. I would recommend exempting the Saved Games folder, or disabling OneDrive entirely in favor of a less aggressive backup system.

While possible, it was more likely that OneDrive could be the culprit, it's been known to revert files and cause issues before. I'd give the steps here ( #h1-tech-fixes message ) a try and see if any of the backup files haven't been reverted. It's also worth downloading your Steam Cloud files from here ( https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=1145360 ), though odds are that's already been overwritten.

Hi, I‘m trying to Platin the game on Ps5 and this is seriously my last hope. It is about the “End to Torment” trophy which I can‘t seem to progress at, which hinders me from completing the “Complete Set” trophy.

I finished the game basically have 50+ successful escape attempts, over 150 attempts and have gotten all the hearts.
According to a video guide for End to Torment the order to progress goes: Sisy and Bouldy -> Hades -> Meg -> Nyx -> Admin Chamber -> House Contractor. After listening to the dialogues I am sure I got the Hades and Meg dialogues. Since Nyx has many similar dialogues about giving us hints to certain contracts I can‘t be a 100% sure that I got the dialogue but still could swear that I heard it in my runs. But still I tried to trigger it by dying several times, it‘s gotten to the point that there are no more conversations to be had in the House of Hades and with Sisyphus. Still there is no contract in the Admin Chamber and at the House Contractor.

I have been trying for hours now and don‘t know what else to do except for asking help from the community. If what I’m saying is convoluted please excuse it as I am dead tired and have a severe headache from trying to complete it.

My guess is you may need to have more conversations with Meg, potentially as a boss fight without Extreme Measures?

From what I remember you also need to talk to Bouldy whenever you enter Sisyphus' chamber, and then Sisyphus should comment on that at one point, which should push the things forward.

About this, I came to the point where talking to him results in Zagreus not speaking at all and Bouldy saying “…” and there are no new lines for Sisyphus as well, he gives me the standard one liners. (And yes, I have given Bouldy Nectar at this point, and am still giving Nectar for the chance for it to progress)

This could be it because at some point I started to only play with Extreme Measures on. I will try and get back to you, though in no guide it is said that this is a requirement.

Update: Have tried to trigger a new conversation with Meg during her boss fight (without Extreme Measures) and in the lounge. The Boss fights ended up with usual one-liners everyone drops or with a subplot where Dusa got sacked. And the lounge ended with either her talking to Hypnos, Dusa, Nyx or her talking about the fact that Dusa got sacked/reinstated. According to every guide I have watched/read, I got the exact dialogue to progress said quest where she and Zagreus talk in the lounge where Zagreus ask if she can “ease of on him”. But otherwise I can‘t tell what else I could be missing, nothing progresses. Sisyphus gives one-liners even after gifting/talking to Bouldy multiple times. The others in the House of Hades didn‘t have anything to add except for the whole subplot with Dusa. It isn‘t even an RNG issue anymore.

Gotcha, if you're at that point, then most likely you either need to gift Sisyphus more times, or speak to Achilles. It's also possible there is a place to interact in the Admin Chamber that you may have missed on first look

Hi! I've been playing Hades for months without any issues until last night. I was mid-run and I attempted to change the resolution from 1080p to 1440p. After that the game immediately crashed and when I try to open the game, I get a windowed black box and nothing else. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game multiple times, I have also gone through the official tech support guide and nothing has worked. I am running on a Ubuntu-based Linux distro. I also tried to clear out the user profile but that hasn't worked either. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated because I am at a loss. Thank you!

I've verified game files (many times), my drivers are as up to date as they can be (my distro is always running a little late), Steam Overlay has been disabled, I've cleared out the Profile1.sav, all the launch options on the guide I've already attempted to use. I can't run it in admin mode (Linux) and the C++ redistributable is also for Windows I believe. Thank you!

Thank you! For the settings file you cleared, did you delete Profile1.sjson, or Profile1.sav ? .sjson is the game settings, and the most likely to fix the issue, while .sav is your save progress

I genuinely cannot find the .sjson file, it is not there. I even did another reinstall and power cycled my computer. Here is my file path: /home/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/1145360/pfx/drive_c/users/steam/user/Documents/Saved Games/Hades. I know its a little funky because of Proton but am I in the right place? I have the log file, the .sav files, and the steam_autocloud.vdf

I just tried setting it manually in the advanced options and that did not work either... Any other ideas?

Heyo! The save system doesn't have a way to fully delete a save file, as a safeguard against accidentally deleting save progress. The trash button is there so you can clear the slot and then create a new save, but won't fully remove the file.

I have an issue with the paintings/portraits on the West Hall not appearing on the wall. Well, most of them don't show up. Tartarus, Night, Cerberus don't show up and the only ones that appear on the wall are the Prince, Princess and Asphodel ones. I know it's a weird glitch or maybe bug, but I just can't find any info on it or how to fix it.
I already did 2 runs to see if the other paintings/portraits will stick on the wall, but they just don't ever appear. The camera isn't moved also when I try using them, it just fades to black.

By the way, I also had issues with the Prince, Princess and Asphodel paintings/portraits, as they kept disappearing from the wall. From what I understood, it's an issue with having bought all the portraits/paintings and them overlapping with the other paintings/portraits I bought from the contractor, even though I have only selected the ones I want from the ones I bought.

Heyo! That may be the problem—most pirated versions of the game are not the final update, so they're missing some stability patches.

As a starting point, I'd try making a new save file in a different slot, and see if that will work.

On Mac, sometimes when I try to play, Zag takes keyboard input for like 3 clicks and then continues in the direction of the first input ignoring all other button presses other than mouse pressing and sometimes this passes w time or rarely it'll fix itself by restarting steam/Hades/my computer.

Hiya, i've suddenly had problems with my Hades save files (only been playing for a week but I have one save which i've played the most on) and suddenly had all the save files dissapear. I'd originally only had one to play my first playthrough on and a second one i made and then deleted after only like two runs. For some reason that save file came back (???) after being deleted a few times so i left it be, that was a good few days ago, and just now today all of the saves that were there are missing. I have a suspicion it's Xbox cloud syncing (in the image that's like a few hours ago on the saved time it's now 22:01 for me) and not Hades that's the problem but i would love reassurance that all my progress isnt gone, thanks so much.

Hmm. That does line up with what I've seen from a cloud syncing issue for the Xbox version (save files going missing, and new files not being created).

It might be worth checking your firewall and/or Windows Defender settings to try whitelisting Hades? That can sometimes be enough to get it working again

If You're Having Issues Launching the Game, or with Graphics or Stability

In some rare cases, the game's default setting of running in fullscreen mode can cause such problems. Running the game in windowed mode can alleviate this. To do so, add the following to your Launch Options via the Epic Games launcher. If you're running in 4K this should help with flickering issues:

/FullScreen=false /NoBorder=true /X=1920 /Y=1080

You may replace X and Y with your native or preferred resolution.

If You're Still Having Trouble Starting the Game

If you're having trouble getting the game to start, please try running the .EXE file outside of the Epic Launcher while in Admin mode:

Navigate to the following directory, or wherever the game is installed:
C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Hades

Then open either the x64 or x86 folder, as fits your machine. Finally, run Hades.exe as Administrator by right clicking on it and selecting "Run as Administrator..."

If the Game is Not Running Smoothly

Hades should run smoothly on most systems that meet or exceed the minimum system

If you open the settings via the gear in the bottom left, there is a button/link in there called "Show Logs" which will open your log folder. Passing along the launcher log can be helpful to them as well.

Quick fix I found for the launcher having trouble installing the game is restarting the process through task manager, hope this helps.

I've been experiencing slowdown / jerky, "laggy" camera movements in the palace, but when checked with fraps, it reads 46 FPS, and video recorded with fraps doesn't show the jerky movement despite the fact that fraps shaves 10 FPS off my total. I know others have been reporting jerky/laggy camera, and I've got a pretty solid PC regardless so this strikes me as a little weird

Hmmm interesting. We'll probably have to order that GPU to try to repro and fix this! Some other people reported that setting some combination of the in-game settings and monitor settings to 1080 seemed to workaround it.

!bug When in the house of Hades, when you open the codex and managed to have the animation of the codex opening when you transition into another chamber, there are a couple of bugs. 1. you cannot open the codex anymore, nor the menu for the settings. 2. All UI for action (which button you can press) are disabled but the action work fine.

!bug Just was able to play this smorning for a hot minute, still having the problem I had on stream where I'll randomly hit a lag, usually when going to fight enemies, and it will have the screen freeze for about 3 - 5 seconds, but the enemies will still be able to move and I can hear myself still moving.

I got a game breaking bug i think. My game crashed during the cutszene for the succubus fight right after the hero says his first word. The game saved before the cutszene and crashes everytime i start the save file and then the cutszene plays and crashes again. I can't end the run through the menu just can go back to the main menu.
