It makes sense that the ancient greeks imagined their gods and goddesses as so vindictive and awful, though, because life in general was incredibly hard. If something awful happened to you it might feel somehow easier to think the gods are angry at you than that things are just chaos and unfair.

Curiously, Dionysus is also sometimes considered the most 'human' of the gods. I think Hades (the game) has a little reference to this in his codex, with Achilles mentioning something of the mortal about him. But yeah, he tended to hang on Earth more than Olympus in a lot of versions.

I played a BUNCH of this game in the beta, beat Hades about 3 times and felt satisfied and stopped. I have all of the base upgrades for the mirror completely maxed, a good amount of the charms maxed too, and it just feels like the runs Im getting just aren't cutting it.
I get to hades and get really close but, man, I know I can beat him but I dont have the motivation after realizing that it is almost entirely because of a bad run set up. What do I do? Whats a good set up?

it depends on the pact. some pacts do change the gameplay/ add contents. some are just stats bump.
Forced Overtime and Tight Deadline, for example, while on paper seem like stats bump, actually force you to play quite differently. So saying heat doesn't diversify gameplay is an over simplified statement.

So I've reached epilogue but I have several side stories to complete still, and haven't maxed any weapons and only have 2 companions. I hope that exploring the rest of the game will be just as satisfying even after reaching epilogue
I think it will, I just hope I haven't reached the "end" plot wise if I still have side story prophecies to fulfill
