Right underneath the little reward preview for the next room, there can be a skull under it. Most times that skill dictates that room is a mini-boss room (though it can also just be a 'harder than normal' standard room). These rooms also give out better rewards.

Dodging the spin attack is vastly easier if you dodge towards Redacted when they do it since, keep in mind, they move forward a tiny bit during it.

If you have EM3 active Asterius does have more dialogue about it (and if you turn it off later, Asterius also mentions it being turned off), which could mess with it a bit. You don't need to bring the weapon with you.

So stygian soul allows you to have about 4 casts in a person if you keep it up consistently
