Just got the game last night, and I am fully engrosed. Having played Gungeon and having gotta used to the kind of bullet-hell scene, this roguelike felt a lot like a bullet hell but better than what I was used to. This is an incredible feat of effort and planning, and 20$ on the eshop is selling this game short imo. Hades is dope as hell.

Depends on the weapon. Aphrodite, the highest damage percentile increase starts at 50% before rarity, which for sword, spear and shield is avg. 12.5 per hit
Much better with bow or the sword hidden aspect, or with a crit build, but otherwise flat damage is much stronger

Encounters are room in which you have to fight mobs for a bounty
There are maybe 55 or so
But there are also many other chambers where you get other rewards or are transition areas, which also count towards the chamber number
The 55 is rougly a max because one of the later areas requires you to find something to progress, so if you find it early, that can subtract from that total

Yeah, the spear guys are rough, greatshields can be a pain and overwhelm you, the chariots are irritating, but it's sort of like, not made to get through quickly, which feels counterintuitive to what most roguelites go for. Like, before the game was in full launch, I've beaten the game like, 50 times, and Elysium is still hit or miss.
