also something that i was wondering about had to do with the zeus aspect on the aegis, and generally how it functions
instantly it reminded me of an ability in a game called awesomenauts. because its a slow telegraph, hits multi target with a dot
but i find some of its behavious to just be really wacky because of how the shot is programed basically. in this other game it basically works with 3 to 2 clicks
1 where you shoot it, a 2nd one for stopping it before it reaches its max range, and then the boomerang click
i felt like comparatively this game's version of that is unnecessarily difficult to use because of that very reason, but also how it behaves when it comes against walls.
that's another difference, in awesomenauts if it hits a wall it just stops in its place instantly which gives you another option for the skill shot.

like i feel its first and foremost, there to provide a ranged tool to melee weapons. but actual cast builds are hard to come by and the type of consistency you get from them is extremely volatile

Cast builds will always be weaker than attack or special builds but theyre still viable
As someone who is again (too) aggro I never use my cast as much as I should because w Boiling Blood and Privilege theyre not just good initiators or cleaners but they set up a lot of extra damage for your attacks
Cast builds work because there are no Daedalus upgrades for casts so focusing on cast boon-wise then having a passable attack or special is key
Cast builds really came into the spotlight with Hermes and again w aspects; Poseidon sword/Hera bow, Hermes, and Artemis are the 3 keys to the kingdom

i wonder if the more formative/transformative cast centered boons could use more relevance though. like you'll come across something like. i think it was a hermes boon that gave you like 4+ additional casts. which that kinda thing would be huge to have earlygame and facilitates these types of builds in the long run without instantly just saying. this is your best tool now, enjoy

I think the main problem is it relies entirely on Artemis so if you want the cast from another god then youll only switch to Artemis keepsake for Asphodel and then your run is off to a slow start

oh then there's the duo boons. i'm under the impression you absolutely need those to like really get an actual cast build going. like there's the dionysus aoe cloud, which on its own is good. but it really gets busted with the 2 zeus duo boons that add multiple high dps, practically guaranteed ticks that can also crit for some reason
i got that in a shield run with like the dot call and the bonus where it amplifies dot dmg on enemies standing on the aoe cloud(s)
and i'm hoping those dot amps don't stack with the 3 clouds because i think thus far i can't possibly imagine cast being any better than this

I was thinking about Dionysus and how he's one of my favourites but really requires all or nothing investment to get his max potential w tier 2 boons + Black Out; you need cast AND an efficient (attack or special) method to poison enemies
I like the internal synergy but the inflexibility, and the fact that a) Dio call has been hard to balance and b) feels really underwhelming to me compared to every other non-Artemis/Aphrodite call, makes me wish that Dio call actually created festive fog clouds instead
It would be purely defensive and anti-dive like Athena's to challenge her monopoly on defense, and youd give it the same gauges and duration

But it also only works on unarmoured enemies which is the trade off for stuns setting up for good damage and really high internal synergy with the rest of his abilities without pigeon holing you into 2 tier 1 boons
Getting cast + decent attack/special and then Black Out is hard enough as is I find, and I would rarely take Dio call over any other
Ares and Poseidon have no other defensive tools or synergy w defensive boons, their calls just have to be like that by design because they use Zag's body
And Poseidon is one of the best calls! Totally outstrips Dio imo

Fun fact from what I can tell, dashing usually resets attack timer(shield is weird with it)

I think Dionysus is perfect for Coronacht Bow, since one attack and one special is 100% guarantee poison stack and then you either just finish with 1-2 specials or one crit charged attack.
But on the beginning especially, it take some time.
It is a good choice but not too viable for me.
Chaos shield is perfect and does get things done quickly enough.
But I've noticed Hestia Gun is just lowkey broken if played well.

Man, would like for the devs to put in a hammer weapon so bad, and I would love it if one of them is like super tiny with much spark in it, and then I'll mod it and name it Alexa Bliss, because each time I am gonna be taking these 32-45 heat runs, it will be fun to play like running away from my problems and then coming back from behind, hitting them hard, and then running away, again.

It is just funny to already been doing that already in the current stage of the game, most of the times - jokes aside - players rely on dash, and with weapons like shield or basically any weapon, you gonna find yourself dashing quite a lot, not to mention the boons you get for the dash, I like how the devs made it a very viable option to play with dash so aggressively.

Shield is best-ish weapon in the game because of its defense.
All the other weapons out-DPS it (except Merciful End, it's real good at that), but the fact that you can just tank so much damage that would end any other run is really hard to overcome.
