Nyaanyaa's Fishing Guide
There can only be three fake bobs, so the fourth bob is always real if the first three were fake. Fake bobs have an interval of 2-5 seconds while the real bob has an interval of 1-2 seconds. So if it takes more than 2 seconds, it should be a fake bob. Meaning you should look for the real bob within a short time after you start fishing or within a short time after a previous bob.
Personally, I just look for the white flash above the bobber and ignore the bobber itself. Some players have said they have better success when putting their thumb on the bobber to not get distracted by that, so maybe you could give that a try.
A Perfect Catch means catching a fish within 340ms. Perfect Catches are 50/50 on being a legendary or rare fish. Any other catch is 50/50 on being a rare or common fish.

Bosses drop Darkness if you've already done the bounty for the given boss on the current Heat level. Darkness also drops from treasure chests sometimes. So it can definitely work before Region 4 and help you progress through Regions 1-3. However, in Region 4, Chtonic Vitality is definitely better because that's where Darkness drops only after beating the last boss, and Region 4 has lots of small chambers, which all count for Chtonic Vitality.

TBH Darkness farm takes a while. Even if you don't count Resource Director (which takes 325k Darkness to max out), just getting 17k to max your Mirror takes what, several dozen runs, several dozen hours? That's a huge chunk of time during which you might be prioritizing Darkness in your runs, which affects Mirror talent choices
I think I'm still not done with the Mirror farm, after 80 or so hours in the game. I just cheated Darkness early to stop thinking about it.
