hey guys i could use some help, Hades wont start, im on pc and bought it from epic games launcher. I hesitated to reinstall because installing the first time around took me 1 hour and 20 minutes but i decided to reinstall anyway, and its reinstalling right now. I dont know why the game refused to start, it didnt start regardless of if i went into the games directory and tried starting the exe or if i started it through the epic games launcher itself.

Chiron is a bow aspect that changes how the Special works. On a normal Chiron build the Special becomes your main source of damage unlike other bows.

It would just be a build where you play the weapon using its intended mechanics like the Special in the case if Chiron. At the extremes of speedrunning and high heat people opt to ignore the Special and play it as a normal bow with dash strike and attack scaling because the Special is slow and lacks aoe. If you want to make a build you’ll start by taking an olympian god’s keepsake for Tartarus to get your first core boon. And generally in Asphodel you’ll take another Olympian god’s keepsake to force a second core boon and potentially aim for a duo boon if the weapon benefits from it. After that it’s too late to force more gods but you can still make your build stronger with keepsakes such as Bone Hourglass etc or you can just take a defensive option like Acorn so you don’t die. That’s the general idea of it, there’s a lot more to it when it comes to optimization and some builds really want certain hammers which are up to rng.

oh ok, so if for example your using exagryphs hestia you would want to just beef up the attack as much as possible? and same for nemesis on sword? so you want to keep improving the weapons main strength?

Yea you can do that but you can only do so much and after a certain point there’s diminishing returns, so better options exist. For instance, Hestia’s attack is already pretty strong at the start so you can choose Poseidon’s keepsake in Tartarus and take Tidal Dash instead to make up for the lack of aoe because the attack one shots/breaks armor of all enemies in Tart. And by the time you get to Asphodel, if you don’t have a strong % attack you can take Shackle and just keep it on.

Nemesis can go both ways in terms of scaling. A very strong build is Merciful End so you’ll start Ares attack then Athena Special and try to get ME Divine Dash and Impending Doom.

Other options would be focusing on crit by starting with Artemis attack then maybe Aphro special for heartrend later, classic build. You could also follow the same strat as the Hestia build I mentioned.

Worth noting that when you push higher and higher heats these builds become unreliable to get and too much rng so in that case you indeed just focus on one thing and try to have enough damage rather than high damage.

So the Tidal dash start on Hestia wouldnt be as good anymore

This is around 50+ heat, before that it’s still pretty strong.

I'm just curious: How is the quality of translation for each language supported by Hades? I was playing the Simplified Chinese version but some of the translation is not very smooth, so eventually I switched back to English.

you have to know every language this game is translated to or just find enough people who can testify to each translated language and they also have to know english as well as their native language so it's a difficult task

I suspect Supergiant are aware of the shortfalls in translation quality. Doing this right is an awful lot of effort and a smaller studio just might not have the knowledge to run a large scale translation for something in house (they aren't putting out games so regularly that it is worth having that knowledge in house).
Translation agencies are sadly of very mixed quality and often go for cheap rates for translators and, well, you get what you pay for.

My partner was a translation project manager at Nintendo and even they (with constant projects and in house translators) had a hard time of making things great.

People sadly don't value good translation enough these days.

What's frustrating is that when a company asks an agency for translations they have very little way to judge the quality of the result in all those languages, so some agencies just pay crap rates to their translators and basically hope the client won't notice how bad some of it is.

Fo2 is difficult to get used to at first because it messes up all the enemy timings you've internally memorized

Em4 can technically be easier because it's only relearning 1 fight rather than relearning every enemy

But also em4 is still difficult even after you learn it lmao

for that reason it's better to also get divine dash from Athena and then you can use that to proc it

so you don't have to use both but only doom-dash

and then usualy switch to tooth in styx

my goal is to get good at em4 and more randomized builds

most of the run is usualy easy as heck but i will still often lose at em4.. especially if im using stubborn defiance

Okay. I have done a 58 Lossless Save of Hades, and this has revealed some... unoptimalities of the otherwise stellar discussion system:

1: Report back to Hades and Persephone. Except that once the prompt was blocked by Persephone talking of inviting Chaos. Sorta understandable.
...The second time, after inviting Chaos as well, "That Dusa really is something, isn't she?" Yes, Mom, but I would like to get the party started, please!
Also Nyx did not talk of inviting Chaos until after run 2 after invitations started to flow (got the rest on run 2).

2: It is run 58. I have done Heat 10 with Gun already. I still do not have the Lucifer unlocked. Zeus just likes to talk about literally anything else, including the party that is yet to start.

3: Why can I not restore the Elder Sigil the same visit to the main hall as I get the quest for it?

4: Patroclus. Enough said. This storyline progresses at a snail's pace even after the other injustices have been righted.

This game has two kinds of priority topics, as far as I understand: Topic priority A gets discussed immediately (first 10 successful runs topics), the priority B gets talked about whenever after the requirements are fulfilled and not blocked by A.
I would suggest a slight revision of this system:
Topic priority A: Main story stuff. Everything that is already there, plus some post 10 runs stuff as above.
Topic priority B: Talked about immediately when possible and not blocked by A. Side-quest stuff, including Hidden Aspects. And mirror unlocks. Basically anything that unlocks stuff or starts quests.
Topic priority C: Everything else.

As is, I sometimes feel like a plaything of the RNGods (how appropriate) as to when I get something as basic as getting alternative sets from the Mirror. Or Aspects. Or getting the story finished after doing the tasks required.

Don't get me wrong, I otherwise love that the progression of topics is semi-random. Sometimes it is just a bit excessively so. :b

I've seen a post on the subreddit (by Reddit Username u/Keeper_And_Memes) about "What Hidden Aspects would you like to have/make?" so I figured I'd ask the same question here. If you were to create a hidden aspect, who would it be based on and (maybe) how would it play?

i would generally like aspects connected to more diverse mythologies - something from african or south american cultures could be nice, Anubis or Quetzalcoatl could work

Exactly why I was wondering lol I had area attack ath special (and dd) but after I died I was double questioning because both options seems to be good in their own way

I died because I wasn't paying attention for like 2-3 seconds which was a rare mistake I like never make

Zeus can be finnicky, don’t worry… Personally my most recent Zeus ME build had doom on special and deflect on dash and attack

special doom does a bit more damage, right?

athena attack does seem more useful for defense, but ares attack opens up the usual dashstrike ME

Doom doesn't ramp up, the cycle is only repeating. You should be applying doom then deflecting then reapplying doom and deflecting and so on

That's why Doom would be preferred on Zeus Special instead of attack. If you're good at managing where your Special is then it'll be ticking faster than you can attack/dash-strike so you ensure that every time you hit with a deflect there is a doom on the enemy. The opposite would lead to you deflecting when the enemy has no Doom on them because shield dash strikes and standing strikes can be tough to reapply constantly, possibly risky too.
