Watching Kemurikusa, I'm glad Tatsuki and Yaoyorozu ended up staying indie instead of getting absorbed into the Kadokawa machine. It sucks that Kemono Friends is basically dead now because of executive meddling, but even still, I don't like to think what would happen if the studio and Tatsuki were forced into a typical anime deadline with production committees and people controlling their every move.
Kemurikusa feels maybe a little rougher and more homegrown than their next works maybe would have if Kemono had stayed strong, but it still retains some fantastic direction (because, you know, Tatsuki), really great art and character designs, an intriguing premise and script and world and characterbuilding, and overall what made Friends so compelling to begin with.
It may not be "high fidelity", per se, but Kemono Friends was always extremely pleasant to look at with some beautiful design. Kemurikusa only continues in that tradition.
the framerate is also more consistent and the action scenes are more dynamic in kemurikusa, too

My pickles, as mentioned, are cucumber with garlic and dill. I usually make half the batch as spicy ones as well, with the addition of a couple Bird's Eye chilies

If you ever do, the key to a crisp pickle (without resorting to additives) is to chill the cucumbers in an ice bath prior to packing, and do a hot pack (hot brine, hot jars) to reduce the overall time required in the water bath processing (I do 5 minutes). Obviously, methods will vary based on your recipe, and you should always try to use a proven recipe for food safety

The new ones are good. The difficulty and concepts are ramped very well. The old ones however threw you into the deep end and you'd have to look up some very technical and convuluted guides to understand the hidden mechanisms and combos etc.
But yes, I think you still need to refer to 'external documents' in the fanbase for the best experience.

It is quite fun! The optional difficulty scaling is quite good, but extremely punishing at higher levels. Unlike SGG's games, though, you have to complete each level of Ascension before you can increase the difficulty

There's some elements of luck, but I'd say it's primarily skill

But there aren't many luck-free rogue-likes anyway. I think the closest there is to that is Into the Breach.
Or maybe Crypt of the Necrodancer... sure, you get items, but the game can be finished with the basic items without taking any damage if you're good enough.

I'm not sure I've played a great FF story since 9 really. And IMO the pinnacle was 6. I play them more for the world-building and the mechanics. The characters have gotten progressively less interesting; there are always one or two who are REALLY well done, and the rest are some generic anime template.
10 had a great setting, but everyone but Auron was a twerp.
And even he was kind of one-dimensional brooding cloak man.
But I adored the sphere grid and the way the society was structured.
