Agreed. I am developing a concept of the story of Dionysus descending into Hades to free his mother, and tying it to the Midas story. I think it might be too derivative if I made a campaign involving Zagreus (and it would be hard to escape players wanting it just to be a replica or too closely tied to the Hades video game instead of something different).
Right now the campaigns I have run and developed are based on the Aegina myth (dragons, ants turning into humans, etc.) and the Labyrinth of Crete (dungeon crawl, with intrigue based on the other factions I placed within it)

Odyssey of the Dragonlords is set in an ancient Greece-ish land named Thylea. Like Theros, it has key differences from ancient Greece but is clearly based on it 🙂

Hades is very much about building yourself up for eventual success. There are ways to get stronger with each next run. There is an accessibility option that just gives you 2% of damage resist every time you die — you can stack up 50% of damage resistance this way. If you want to do story but can't cut it with base difficulty, it's highly recommended.
I must make a note here that a lot of the content of the game unfolds in the House of Hades in-between your actual runs through the Underworld; you won't want to boss rush the Big Man Himself repeatedly, I assure you.
