so i havent done houses before but w my experience with complexes, check out the amenities (like a microwave or pool), what the crime is in the area is, if water sewage garbage is included, how trash/recycling works, how you get your mail and packages. in the us, with pets if it's not an esa or service animal they may charge an extra deposit as well as pet rent. some places dont, but a lot of places do.

How to stop global warming in three simple steps:
Step one: freeze the earth's iron core
Step two: earth's iron core is now solid and acts as a much better magnet than before
Step three: earth's magnetic field is now extremely powerful and deflects much more of sun's radiation stopping the global rise of temperatures on earth

buoyant frigate

So fun fact, the earth’s molten core is what actually makes its magnetic field in the first place— the inner layer rotates at a different speed than the outer layers. This difference in motion is the earth’s Dynamo and it’s what generates the protective magnetic field.

#

If we froze the core, we would lose the dynamo, subsequently destroying the magnetic shield and causing our atmosphere to detach!

#

is anyone here on the aro ace spectrum?

hexed hollow
#

yeah, there are ^-^

#

I am one of them

tall owl
#

heck yes

fast marlin
#

how did you

#

figure that out

#

because im kind of questioning if im on the aro spectrum

hexed hollow
#

I basically figgured it out once I learnt more about the spectrum, things kinda just fell into place kind of like "oh, I finally have a way to describe these experiences I've had all this time"
also if you think you're on the aro ace spectrum you probably are to one degree or another friendly

#

and if it turns out you're not aro/ace (or it happens to change in the future) that's valid also ^-^

tall owl
#

for me it was somewhat straightforward, going through the tried-and-tested 'gay?? -> bi/pan?? -> ace' pipeline and then seeing that aro was a thing - though it's probably harder to decipher if you're in the grey are demi area... what I realized for being aro is that my ideals of relationships were basically just friendships

hexed hollow
#

when I realised I was aro was more complicated and kinda tied to when I realised the extent I was trans

fast marlin
#

my problem is i dont know if ive ever actually experienced like crushes or if im trying to convince myself i did

hexed hollow
#

ahh, the good ol (worst) game of "is this crush or not"

fast marlin
#

and like. i dont want to be aro? ive always kind of imagined myself falling in love and getting married and all that

hexed hollow
#

platonic relationships and marriages are 100% a thing and are totally valid

tall owl
#

I thought I had crushes on people, but it was just a desire to form a friendship - as in, I'd meet a person and think 'I would like for them to be in my social circle and meet a couple times a month' (which is most certainly not how non-aro people experience crushes...)

fast marlin
#

yeah i know but its just a different thing to me (this feels very internalized allonormativty of me)

#

my crushes are mostly like i can think about dating my friends and all the romantic things but i dont know if i actually feel somethihng

hexed hollow
#

based on my limited knowledge of you as a person I'd say that sounds like a demiromantic thing
demiromantic being not experiencing romantic attraction until you've formed a bond (whether that be emotional, sexual etc.) with the person

tall owl
fast marlin
#

but idk if its romantic attraction is the big problem lmao

hexed hollow
#

figuring out this kind of stuff can be really tricky, but I think you gots this, even if it takes a bunch of time friendly

fast marlin
#

thank you aphroheart

fast pelican
#

Experience through experimentation might aid in that self-discovery, no?

zenith olive
blissful charm
# fast marlin is anyone here on the aro ace spectrum?

kicks down door coming in late to say yeah. i'm aro but not ace. which i didnt figure out until a few months ago. but for me it was "i'm 30 and i've never been in love" -> "am i capable of falling in love?" -> "wow i tried dating someone and realized that this person is cool but dating has such zero interest to me" -> "heck yeah single forever club." i've had a lot of crushes over my life thst were mostly "i like this person a lot" and interpreted it as romantic attraction because of that when really i just... liked that person a lot.

#

I realized wanting to be in love for me just meant i didnt want to die alone basically and i wanted to be really important in someone's life. and hey you dont actually need to be in love for that! so now i am straight vibing and it hecks severely

#

also idk how old you are but i didnt figure all this out until i was 30. you got time. you dont have to worry about having it all figured out this minute. and hey if you realize later thats not the right label for you that's ok. sometimes things change during our lives and sometimes they dont and both are fine.

serene tulip

I feel like I'm mildly aro because either I love almost everyone, or I love almost no one. Its really hard for me to figure out which is actually the case.

I'm in a bit of a pickle. So it seems all the books I want to get are best priced from direct Japanese stores (and in some cases, only available there).

additionally, if these books aren't sourced from japan (eg manga) you could consider buying from second-hand online stores and brick-and-mortar stores. i recently bought a book second-hand for $6 that usually retails second-hand for $25-30 in my city

fast pelican

Thanks Will. I'll have to look into it as these art books seem to be pretty rare on the markets here in the west and then otherwise they're super expensive when I can get each one individually for about £17 over there.

I guess I'm starting something of a collection for this series that's dear to me.

dry stratus

tokyo otaku mode ships to australia for a sane price but i know shipping to the uk is quite different now. hopefully you can find what you want across all three sites

fast pelican
#

I have a strong suspicion that getting them from Japan directly and shipping them once via a friend will be best overall so I'm willing to wait too. But let's hope this is cheap also.

Then we'll see what sort of shipping fees we're dealing with. But I have to say, both artbooks and a limited edition calendar for £50 total is bloody fantastic.

i kinda can relate

#

when you absolutely know somebody is about to pass away, and you can't do anything, you live in fear that it will happen soon

#

and when it actually happens, you feel like.. it's nothing to fear anymore

#

it is some sort of relief, but it doesn't bring joy

just emptiness

yep, adults are not used to sources of information other than TV

fast pelican

Can't be helped I guess. But the defeatism is depressing.

Learn how to make pie so you can turn cheap and bruised rejected apples into something tasty. Pick up knitting or sewing so you can feel empowered to repair clothes and pillowcases instead of buying new ones. Learn a bit of gardening. Go on a "recycle to save money" binge instead of for environmental reasons.
It's silly, but even if the skills never come into use, it's both grounding you in an activity and also gives you a sense of empowerment once you do the thing.

Starting a wholly sustainable household in the west here is no easy feat though, especially if you're learning everything from scratch. To say nothing of isolating yourself from society in necessary ways.

#

But it's great if you have the determination to pull it off.

buoyant frigate
#

yeah, absolutely. Gardening definitely isn't the same as Farming To Live Off The Land, but I do think framing things in smaller hobbies is a good way to introduce people to a skill and give them the vocabulary to start seeing it with a bigger picture

With the way things are looking, I don't really see the average working-middle class individual having much drive to focus on hobbies when they're working 70 hours a week to be able to live.

they're not too good to eat right away, but just right to be made into something

and those are really delicious

# fast marlin oooo how

2 glass half pint jars. 1 or 2 green apples, sliced. combine pickling liquid (1 cup water, 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar, 1/4 cup apple cider, 1/4 cup white wine vinegar) with seasonings (1 cinnamon stick, pinch or two whole cloves, molasses and maple syrup to taste, and maybe like 1/2 Tbs - 1 Tbs coarse kosher salt i always forget how much i use) in a pot and heat to a low boil, stirring occasionally. boil for a few minutes, then remove cinnamon sticks (using tongs) and put one in each jar. then pour the pickling solution into the jars

#

be sure to leave 1/4" space between the liquid line and the rim. also make sure your apples dont go above the liquid line, or you risk mold

#

screw on the cap and let come to room temperature. once cool, dtore in the fridge for like a month or two

note that it takes about a week for the apples to get the right flavor

Beyond that though it's an authority thing, not just military

#

its kinda nice though lmao i dont really care too much what people call me

#

okay dnd is so wild because you have
-a demon druid whos a total sweetheart but also could probably kill you
-a criminal furry who would kill you
-literally just a teenage lion who wants a cat toy
-and a bratty prince who flirts with everyone
and you expect us to go stop a war

serene tulip
#

I don't have the body type for any of the cosplay I'd wanna do :<

#

be cool if I could just shapeshift into Rei from Solar Ash

fast marlin
#

i dont really think the body type matters, if you have the elements (like clothes and wig and all that) of the character people’ll recognize you as the character

#

also optical illusions exist and people have been using stuff like padding and corsetry ect to get the ideal shape for centuries and the whole “your physical body shaped by genetics has to be x to be fashionable” is a really modern thing

#

but thats a whole other debate im not getting into

serene tulip

I wore 18th-century women's clothing, all day, 5 days a week, for 5 years of my life. Over those 5 years, I learned a lot about my body, fashion in the 1700s - the good and the not so good, and how we can take these lessons and improve modern fashion.
