and it did not disappoint, but gosh, I just wished we got to spend more time with the characters, you know? they seemed so interesting and we barely got to glimpse them through their data entries...

The most controversial decision I made was to use the 4 edition rule sets. Not many people have played it, but it was my childhood basically.
The more combat focused system is perfect for this setting imo.

i like to sorta rp when i play games, so having no spoken lines for Corvo and very few written lines allowed me to create my own narrative and inner monologue for him, which i always had a lot of fun with

i really liked how in 1 i felt like i was in control of who Corvo was.. i had to figure him out using a) the history i was given about him, b) the actions available to me within the game, and c) the other characters' reactions to him

hey i'm copying/pasting from #video-games cuz i just got to thinking abt how this worked in Pyre! i really liked the Reader's progression throughout the story-
in games i think we usually start off oblivious, as players, and often as our characters too - the Reader certainly starts off this way, with no real knowledge of the Downside or the Rites. but we can read! so it doesn't take long before "oblivious" isn't remotely accurate & we understand more about the meaning and history of the Rites than (most of) our companions, and they treat us with great reverence for it!

i just remember clearly at one point reading their dialogue and realizing - WOAH - Okay - i'm a SCHOLAR!! i don't play a lot of games where you have a role of such great respect like that, and it was really cool to suddenly realize the way i had been thinking of the Reader as oblivious-ish was just, like, completely wrong

I was really looking forward to play it but, honestly, even if I like the story and the gameplay a lot, the really long written dialogues kind of seem to break the game too much. On the TTRPG thing, they talked about Yslach returning at some point a long time from now in the game - what if in a TTRPG campaign of Pyre, Yslach returns sooner than expected? And while there isn't a way to reopen the path to the Commonwealth/Sahrian empire, we know there IS a means of communication and sending resources.

What if you play as a descendant of the various Downside dwellers, and you have to work with members of the Sahrian empire on the other side (maybe much older versions of the Nightwings or their descendants) almost like patrons, and you have to find a way to stop Yslach by destroying or sealing him away?

I had some hopes after Hades' incredible success, but they say it'd be a very complicated port and I figure they still don't see it being worth the effort...

Porting to the Switch is also more difficult than other consoles in certain ways Griftlands (by Klei) is another text-heavy game and favorite of mine, and when they were porting it to Switch it caused a bunch of game breaking bugs (not to mention the work finagling and scaling all the text and such to be readable on a small/handheld device). Also, Nintendo sometimes takes eons to approve patches which makes porting issues take longer to fix.

On top of all this, Pyre has SO much in it in terms of assets - and all that unique art, audio, music files, etc. can get super resource heavy. Porting is like...probably doable, but since the game wasn't developed for the Switch from the start, there's a decent chance it wouldn't even be functional - they'd likely have to go back and dig through most all of the assets to overhaul and optimize the heck out of them 🥲

Just thinking about the ordeal causes me pain and I'm a fan, LOL. I imagine the time and resources it would take are simplly better put towards their current/future projects, at least for now. 👌

(Not to discourage hoping for anything of course, but I hope that provides some context for the kind of roadblocks that might have stopped them from tackling it before this point ❤️ )
And if I can guarantee anything as a dev myself, it's that the SGG devs really do care about ya, port or not! :)

Is there a place I can get a mid-game saved game file for Pyre? I finished the game, and I want to go back and explore the world in my wagon, but I can't back out of the final save checkpoint (just prior to the rite)

I read that pyre gameplay is pretty forgiving comparing to Hades. I might picked it up later because I like visual novels

It is. There's consequences to your actions, but you won't be forced to return to some starter area after losing an encounter

This is one of the reasons you should play it at the highest difficulty you're comfortable (yet note that there's nothing wrong about playing on Easy)

you can progress in the game while losing every match and i would say its still a compelling story like that, though its unlikely to happen unless you really try to lose

Making it to the end losing every or almost every match is heartbreaking to me. Like. there are consequences. I love that it's allowed but I would not recommend it for a first playthrough. Easy mode is great!

yeah i didnt do it on my first run, it was my "evil" run... i think it was my second or third playthrough, where i was the meanest to everyone as much as the game allowed me and lost every match on purpose. it didnt feel good, but i enjoyed seeing stuff i wouldnt usually see on a regular run, like ||rejecting sandra ||

Wow, I have no idea anymore... Should be easy enough to re-guesstimate using the portraits though

I basically just measured Hedwyn, counted the pixels, got a pixel to inch ratio from that, and applied that ratio to the pixel height of the other portraits

Everytime I connect my dualshock 4 via bluetooth the game assumes it's a steam controller. How can I make the game recognize as a dualshock 4 and have playstation button prompts? Thank you

Not on steam right now but I think you want to disable stream controller which you can either do in game properties or globally.

You can go into the Steam Controller Settings and enable Playstation Configuration Support.

I believe it's under View -> Settings -> Controller , or something like that. I can check when I get on my computer later if you're unable to find it.

For me it was... okay, in part I messed up big time at the very last moment, but replaying it immediately was more about getting to know some characters better than to get a different ending!

All the scenes with the first couple of exiles I'd sent back up... following a few of the storylines of the other triumvirates instead of picking my matches in a way that prioritized unlocking the whole Book, stuff like that c:

my playthrough went like this:||sent Hedwyn, Jodariel, Rukey, Sir Gilman, Volfred, Pamitha + her sister home, the Plan is a success, and my Reader + Lae (Moon-Touched Girl) + Ti'zo + Bertude stayed Downside||

yeah I kinda tempted to fail when ||one of my Liberation Rite was with the Fates, coz I like Almer and Dalbert a lot.|| but i like the epilogue they got too.

ngl i don't know if i can ||name MTG anything other than Lae now. it kinda stuck in my mind||
