Turn() is your friend--don't be afraid to use it, then just walk away while it's recharging

you basically ignore attack windups/cooldowns, and you can deal bonus damage with combos

try out builds, find what suits you, and make sure you use turn() as much as possible

Alright. Could you try setting the launch option /UseMouse=true ? I don't know exactly which launch options will affect the game, since several of them were made newly for Hades, but it's worth a try. There are instructions in the top of #h1-tech-fixes for setting launch options, just select Transistor instead

Yes what's important is that we definitely know that SGG definitely had no malicious intent in writing their stories or characters —as we can see from the Noclip docs they were pretty much just focused on making an enjoyable and unique experience — and it just so happened that their story coincided with some touchy issues some might perceive. What matters though is that they were able to improve upon their mistakes and we can really see their efforts shine in their later installments

I definitely don't think they were tapping their fingers together sinisterly à la Royce Bracket style at the thought of making tropes to offend people

In full agreement that nothing about this is on purpose, and also that there's been a great improvement... ...but these are four separate closed canons. This is the Transistor channel. I don't give a single hoot about Hades, I'm here for Pyre and to a lesser degree Transistor. I love these two games dearly and they are so very important to me except for this one aspect that keeps hurting like salt on an open wound. Please do not strawman critics as haters coming from the outside - in the specific case of these two games, all the talk I've seen comes from within the fanbase, from people who care.

I feel like SGG is a really good example of allies accidentally Messing Up, but then listening, and doing a little bit better every time.

They dipped their toes in the representation water with Transistor, and stepped in some bad places by accident - whoops! ||queer representation + interestingly tragic villains = queer people who do bad things and die tragically! 🤦‍♀️ || - but then they listened, and did better in Pyre.

And they still didn't get it quite right - whoops! ||positive queer representation that's subtle enough for some players to miss it completely!|| - and they listened again, and did better in Hades.

(although it is a touchy subject i want to get my opinion out) i understand the distaste towards writers killing off lgbtq+ characters, but it gets annoying when people yell at it all the time. tbh sybil dying and being gay didnt make it worse at all and didnt affect me or the story negatively. she didnt die because she was gay, it was due to her unhealthy fixation(which can realistically happen to anyone and everyone). its always written off by people as "oh they were killed off because they were lgbtq+" instead of "oh the character made choices and it led to their deaths(not the lgbtq+ thing, just thats how the character ended up). i feel like the main separation between "the character is written that way and they have more than just being lgbtq+" and that "the character is only there to be the lgbtq+ rep and then killed off or had bad choice". transistor i feel like did the former really well, thats how sybil is written. if she was straight no one wouldve batted an eye but because she's gay theres a problem now. Now please dont misinterpret this as me being anti-lgbtq+(i myself am bi and support everyone that falls under lgbtq+), i find that when writing, there are times where the character is that way because, well, it happens. just like real life. you cant control your sexuality, and you cant really control what happens to you much either. writing lgbtq+ characters that dont have anything bad happen to them and always end in a happy ending isn't good writing because it isnt believable and, if anything, leads to yet another bias. I personally saw no problem with how sybil was written(and i haevnt played pyre so i can't say much there). yes i know that there can be messy writing and sometimes it is due to to author bias against lgbtq+, but sometimes its just because thats how it ended.(im sorry for the essay i just wanted to get my opinions out, and please ask me for clarification since i dont want anyone to get the wrong idea 👉 👈 )

I agree, i love the camerata and their unique dynamics. Grant and asher, royce and even sybil. I don't think being antagonists puts a detriment on their character, it just is their character and role in the story. Sybil is a compelling and tragic character and i think changing any of the traits that make her her would make her story not have the same harrowing impact that it does.

A lot of villains in fiction are often idiosyncratic in nature and sometimes outright evil but we still love them for it because they are so compelling to the narrative. I'm not disregarding people who have issues with Sybil because they're well and valid, it's just that in my opinion a character being portrayed as a villain in the story doesn't necessarily mean they're reinforcing negative concepts, it's just the way they are written in the narrative and it often adds to their strength. We wouldn't have In Circles if Sybil wasnt the way she was. It would have also been nice to have had representation with the good guys but well Transistor is a relatively small and enclosed story so we were limited with the cast that we got. Thats why the existence of Pyre and Hades provide more opportunities for the SGG team to play with a wider cast and have more varied representation and i like that
(Ok this is also just me voicing my opinions, i hope people don't get the wrong idea either, so feel free to disagree with me)

Friend by the name of Stephen who is LGBT used to be here, and he had the best criticism of the Camerata that I've heard so far.

Keep in mind I'm paraphrasing from a conversation from maaaybe 2019.

It's not that the Camerata are LGBT and villains.

It's that, intentionally or not, some of their characteristics line up with very outdated and frankly harmful tropes about LGBT characters.

The "battle" with Grant and Asher is called "Cowards." There's been a lot of very negative LGBT representation in the past that effectively attributes characteristics like bravery or cowardice to sexuality.

Anyone who has played Transistor can plainly see that's not actually the case with the Kendralls, but the parallels are still there and for people who have lived through it seeing the two of them can be traumatic.

The same goes with Sybil, where lesbians have historically been portrayed as virtually-insane envious assailants.

I think that's a really good way of looking at it. I doubt supergiant intended for their portrayal to be queerphobic in any way, but it's really not a good look in some ways

Again, it's not that Sybil is a monster because she's gay, but that she is the most unambiguously villainous character and is a lesbian and happens to follow a very negative trope (murders her love interest's straight male lover) makes Transistor a harder sell in the years following its release.

It's effectively a product of its time, which is weird to say for a 7-year-old game, but keep in mind that SGG is an American company and just how incredibly backwards the US still is in 2021.

Wow, I didn't see that at all when I played through. ||I took everything to be a metaphor on the art world, and my interpretation of Sybil wasn't one of romantic interest, but rather artistic jealousy. The Camerata seem to view their targets as something they have a right to, regardless of what that target thinks, and they choose specific individuals based on what that individual would do for the collectives goals. Their perspective seemed so self-evident and just to them as to give them divine right. Sybil wasn't an artist, but was an organizer. People like that usually want to BE artists, or to acquire the social status of artist by proxy. Red was everything she wanted to be, had everything she wanted to have, and she refused to join. I though Sybil killed Reds bodyguard not to BE with her, but to HURT her, out of spite.|| Having said all, that, I think Sybil being gay is definitely supported in the text, it just went completely over my head
