See, what I'm thinking is that the Battlepasses are, instead of limited-time things, free things you can always have available at all time with new BPs just being added to the selection. You can choose one to level up at a time, and will level up just by playing. The only purchase for it is that you can buy boosters to add an exp multiplier. These battle passes have archive footage which can be viewed to show more of the life of the world before the outbreak.

It'd also kinda focus on the actual mental impact a post-apocalyptic world would have, especially when there's the potential to restore that world.

And the main conflict is all of them fighting about what should be done- one group wants to take the Transistor and use it to finish blank-slating everything, another wants to restore the world and go back to the way life used to be, and the last wants to just move on and leave it all behind. And then there's the characters who aren't sure and don't know what to do.

Huh. I never got the impression of anything remotely to do with antivirus. I saw the entire conflict as just how a computer is basically unusable if you're looking directly at the processes instead of putting them in the background and just looking at the programs and interface, the people and the town. Hmm, I think it kind of jumps off the rails when it doesn't talk about the distinction between a program and the processes that operate it. Like, it overcomplicates things to call the process a program that keeps everything else in line when the naming and the fact that Royce thinks the process are normally invisible and doing all the work whenever something happens suggests it's not quite that sort of relationship. As in, I don't see the process as a program but rather the literal processes behind every program in Cloudbank. Like, the processes on your task manager as opposed to the application programs running on top of them.

respawning works by taking away your highest MEM-costing function (unless that function is your only attacking function, in which case the game will always leave your attacking function for last)

Just finished my first playthrough of transistor and it's one of the best games I've ever played. I mostly play games like Destiny 2, Borderlands 2, and lately I've been getting into more like No Man's Sky, back into Minecraft, and stuff like that so never really much like this. Between the game play mechanics, the environmental story telling, and soundtrack it was unbelievable.

so Void() is a function that debuffs enemies
and Cull() is a function that "yeets" the enemy to the sky
if you add Load() to Cull() you're going to make Cull() "yeet" and deal damage to enemies in an AREA of effect

This is semi-related, but... I very much did not like Chrono Cross and I had a fair share of discussions and arguments about that and I always said that while it might have merits and potential on its own, it squandered it all when it declared itself a sequel to something that didn't need one
My point is, when I played Transistor, I kept thinking about how I felt about Cross. The freedom and being truly standalone and in-your-face-ness of Transistor was what Cross needed, imo, to really be good

transistor is probably my favorite supergiant game (locked in a perpetual battle with pyre) but I also feel like its the most...flawed of their games?
not that they have many if any glaring flaws but the vagueness of the story even after you've played it a couple times and also the whole bit with only Man() enemies just not being very fun are the two issues I have with it

and even then the story isn't undecipherable, except for whatever was up with the cradle and its need for a mirror boss

I mean, the in-world "mechanism" behind whatever goes on with the Cradle is one of those things I'm willing to not look too closely at, what it really serves imo is setting up a relatively logical step for a final boss. We've fought the Process, up to building-sized entities. What's left to do? Fight the last member of the Camerata, and turning the Turn tool we've become so familair with against the player seemed the most logical step there to me. It's unfortunate it doesn't see too much explanation; which on the one hand makes some in-game sense, there's theoreticaly time pressure and it's quite possible Royce doesn't even know himself why it does that, but on the other is still annoying bc like... it does sorta come out of left field.

while it seems to suggest tying up things like "what is The Country", temporarily isolates Red from her companion character for some contrast since he's otherwise been there pretty mucht he whole game, and takes that logical step for a boss encounter, I'lll readily condece it is kind of a weird plot hole/leap of logic

I'm fine with not knowing what the Country is definitively because we can kinda guess but if they wanted a mirror final boss just have Royce go "haha sike I made my own great value transistor and I want the city" idk

after the whole proxy stuff which is a lot of teasing answers without giving them and consecutive Man() fights which start to drag it definitely feels like they went "oh right we need to finish this up"

honestly everything after landing back at the Empty Set just... feels like a chore. Which sucks, because it's supposed ot be building towards that last climactic encounter but MAN do the high-level Process fights take a long time

it makes me extra sad bc some of the tricky planning tests have really cool solutions but main-game combats aren't really set up to use what you learn in the Sandbox

another big missed opportunity is Turn-based movement puzzles. There's one at the beginning where you have to queue up two switches, but they never touch that again and I just... I crave puzzles

Also the Man() section doesn't really take that long if you have cull and void which you most likely have at that point. Add Bounce+get and it's possible to finish in a turn

Also it takes place over an interesting environment with Royce's soothing voice over so I didnt mind it.

You can kind of drag yourself out of the path of projectiles during an enemy Turn if you jam on the controls as soon as functions start resolving (||Royce|| even has a reaction voice-clip for when his stuff misses), that plus Bounce()passive probably helps (NB I have not watched the video at time of posting)
