as far as I know depending on the variation metis is not involved/doesn't exist and athena just kinda manifests herself into being and bursts out of his skull

in the version(s) Zeus eats metis and she gives birth to and raises athena inside of his head or something like that, eventually she grows up and starts giving zues a headache so zues asks [insert son of zeus] to cleave his head open with an axe after which athena again just casually hops out of the split head fully clothed and armed

but greek mythology is complicated and often contradicts itself since people just kinda made up whatever suited them at the time/place or something like that

my personal favourite habit there is start with Jewelled Pom, then switch to ||the golden watch from Chronos to turn unwanted items to money||, one after that go for ||Zagreus's voucher thing to boost any late game boons further||, and finish with Knuckle Bones for those nice bonuses against the final bosses

I'm at the point where I've completed pretty much all the content other than ||the ranking up thing with the bartender|| and because I'm not always fond of high fear runs but still want interesting challenges I asked husband what I should do

so he doesn't play himself but enjoys watching me play, and his suggestion was to look at all the weapon aspects and see which ones I haven't cleared each route with, then he challenged me to keep the full level Rivals vow on and complete runs I haven't completed with each aspect on both routes. I find the order of keepsakes I use is usually pretty good for that, and sometimes I have a tarot set with the extra lives, but other times I have Strength on it and have it with the one that activated 5 cards after each guardian fight so the bonuses are a little more random but it's still around the right level of challenge for how I play

also fun side fact, husband is the biggest advocate for aiming for Poseidon and Hermes early on to get the money boost from Hermes and he's such a fan of Sea Star from Poseidon he's genuinely excited when I pick it up and every time it activates
(I did in fact marry the most adorable man in the history of ever so...)

thinking about it, Zeus's old Lightning Flourish kinda turned into wave strike/flourish in the sense of "You hit enemy, you get a fixed damage AoE effect on top of it"

Night bloom is really fun since it gets a boost from vow of frenzy

It’s more about if the weapon you’re using naturally uses mana - if you try to force it (most knives and coats builds) it’s gonna be rough but if you’re using like, torches or Charon axe or an o spec staff build it’ll be solid. I’ll take twilight curse the most cause it’s going to clear out rooms, the Zeus godsent is nice but it’s useful without it too. Hestia moon bomb is exceptional against Scylla when godsent though tough to have up to speed by then

lunar ray godsent and triple beam will phase chronos but without both you’re gonna likely be disappointed

Twilight curse is kinda a gimme for crowd control and is my most chosen hex. It’s super cheap and entirely shuts down certain annoying enemies

Even if you don’t put any paths of stars on it just being able to entirely shut down 5 enemies is really strong especially in Thessaly and Olympus

My top 3 by far are Twilight Curse, Phase Shift, and Night Bloom

If you’re going for that, highly recommend things like Hestia fireball, fine line and cut above to make omega attacks cost more, it’s hard to spend 60 mana on coat compared to most weapons

General Question: I finished the faded list in Hades one or at least to the best of my recollection I did. I’m near the completion of the faded list in Hades too. In Hades, one I was able to get the first and second statues running on high heat. I just didn’t have it in me to get the third statue completed. For those that have unlocked the third fear statue in Hades too? Is it easier than getting the third statue in Hades one?

I found the third statue in H2 to be a lot easier than the one in H1. I think I had to try maybe 5-10 times in H1. In H2 I got the 24-fear run (above) on the first try, and only had to try twice for the 32-fear one (below).

Returnal is a totally different beast; hades you’ll get 1 percent better every time you go while Returnal will basically just kick your teeth in til you get good

also the story and vibes are totally different. like everything about Returnal is designed to make you uncomfortable, getting good is being able to look past it. This will sound goofy but I got way better at Returnal when I played Taylor Swift music in lieu of the actual soundtrack, nerfing the jump scares, and was able to get into a rhythm due to the song having a predictable beat (Returnal music has a very unclear rhythm, making it harder to keep up with)

I got Returnal chasing the hades 1 dragon, rage quit for a while then came back to it when someone told me what I just told you about the music/changing the vibes. Hades requires none of that stuff, you’ll like it

For the aspects, I have Medea's relationship maxxed out and Circe's locked until I "prove my mastery of arcana" or something (no clue what that means). I've got lvl 5 weapons in both the staff and skull, done probably 10 encounters of both but have yet to recieve the incantation.

For premium service, I've probably gathered 50 Hephaestus boons with his keepsake equipped but don't know of mechanics to make my odds better.

Does anyone have any tips/tricks to get these? Not really in the business of doing runs mindlessly until I get them.

Haven't really tried to search for Arterial Spray, but any advice there would also be welcome.

late but id say hades 1 n 2 look a lot more daunting than they actually are to play, the combat is really intuitive so you'll prob get a good grasp of it after a few runs

Have you unlocked boon info in the codex? Duos and Legendaries have build prerequisites and you'll never see them if you haven't fulfilled them.

WRT aspects, level five doesn't count unless it's in a non-Mel aspect.

so I lost to Rivals ||Typhon|| but still got the prophecy/achievement? which means there's no point in turning this back on ever? it's only 3 fear for a boss that will very likely end your run, unless you max out moon water or something

Yes, the prophecy only requires you to witness the Rivals lv.4. But to be honest, both encounters are much more fun with it. Ever since I unlocked it, I never turned it off 😄
Although I might be missing out on some dialog... Maybe I'll try once or twice just to check :p

I got to the final (5th?) phase and died there, overall it's just a meatgrinder, I had 500 hp/Strength, still died

It is at first... Then you get used to it and take less and less damage. Just need to keep an eye out for these annoying red projectiles. They're not very visible. I wish the devs had fixed this problem before release.

Does the ||gemstones from Zagreus|| actually do anything, or are they just good for recycling?

Free recycling yeah, you can also get gemstones after every main boss by using the highlighted weapon in the crossroads (after an incantation)
