cause at my skill level i physically cannot translate entire novels quickly, but even so i can catch obvious translation mistakes because i have basic understanding of grammar structures and of the culture

so its just outright faster to mtl, then fix the spots where they translate "onii-chan" to "big brother", or reattach the -senpai suffix as necessary, etc.

also since jp doesn't really have pronouns mtl tends to fuck up pronouns since the gender can't be assumed directly, so i would go and fix those too

Now that I finished watching all 12 episodes of Ubel Blatt now I can gave a say on what I think of it. Ubel Blatt this is one of those anime adaptations that the animation producers could of handled better.

Why am I saying that its one of those anime adaptations that the animation producers could of handles better it's because its placing was sluggish I'm seeing its fair share of its flaws the sluggish placing is one of them.

I know they tried to make it more edgy since it's a dark fantasy and its a revenge type story, however there are times that it brutally feels excessive without any deeper narrative purpose, & crossing into gratuitous territory.

I already noticed on the censorship on this anime like soon that is another negative.

Are there any good points of Ubel Blatt I say yes. That if you like dark fantasy type animes like Berserk or Claymore then Ubel Blatt got that due to its violence, betrayal, its mortally gray world, & its gritty uncompromising tone. Its fight scenes are very solid and visceral, & Koinzell's quest for vengeance is so very compelling.

The art & atmosphere was very impressive because its animation fits the dark aesthetic, with shadowy landscapes & a fittingly oppressive mood.

And it got a very interesting premise about a disgraced hero who was falsely branded as a traitor, & returns back for revenge. Oh yes please do. The political maneuvering & shifting alliances keep things in the unpredictable side of things

The only mixed bag that besides from Koinzell himself its side characters felt so very underdeveloped because they felt like props in his revenge story rather than fleshed-out people.

My overall score for Ubel Blatt it's a 7 out of 10 a good anime but it is indeed flawed it would if been a 6 out of 10 silently above average if not on the sluggish placing, that they tried to make it a little too edgy for its own good, the censorship, & its underdeveloped side characters, however its gritty uncompromising tone, the art & atmosphere, and its premise completely holds it up to a 7 out of 10.

Like the directors, producers, writers, & the animators tried on Ubel Blatt.
