You get a system where bullies reign supreme from down to top and even large companies can't withstand their bullying because - like in case of Discord - if someone reports the server to Discord staff - or they have contacts within the company - the entire server might get in trouble; this gets constantly used by social activists and we ourselves and these companies are at fault for allowing it evolve this way.

With your shading I’d say the thinner lines since it makes your art look more 3D. If you want more of the hand painted feel then I’d go for the first
Thinner linework is also better if you’re somebody who likes to draw in a decent bit of detail
