You need frontier medal on your flagship (usually Shinano) and Beaver on Amagi for CV fleets, and all CVs in the fleet needs Sceptres. Soyuz wants the AFCT actually, swap Beaver put it on Musashi instead of WNT, and Alsace gets regular HPFCR. Otherwise plane loadout is fine, but you need at least 4 +13 Wyverns across Shinano, Akagi, and Amagi

there's the concept of fast average speed, which basically boils down to having an acceptable range of speed for the frontline. It's at 50 speed, give or take some. Figure it out with calculation

IIRC Eldridge HP before proc higher on average, and proc has a substantially higher chance of being delayed, which causes vanguard to be invulnerable during Soyuz barrage. On the other hand Felix is inferior to Anchorage and Bayard in stall (no debuff to enemy or invul)

eldridge retrofit in august 2024. musashi reran 3 months after. rumey was underwhelming, z52 is viable but doesn't hold a candle to the meta options.
rerun urs are no better, you have implac, biszwei, unzen, then finally guam and laffey 2. effectively a long time away to current meta as it stands

good news, the PR series all have decent frontliners to play around with. Anchorage, Bayard, Felix, Harbin... and Shima and Juneau are perma content so you can still work around the frontliner issues, albeit with difficulties and needing patience when going up against the meta fleets
backline comps are less than stellar given that you'd have to wait for a year for Soyuz & Alsace reruns, and less for the inevitable event archiving of Musashi . Richelieu, NJ and Aquila are all perma content, I think you can make do with that for a good while.

Seen a guy in Amagi basically run Alsace - NJ - Aquila - Anchorage - Shima - Juneau all the time in late season (albeit on defense) as an AotN mover. Not all hope is lost, just cope on the new URs and upcoming PR season be good at PvP

server doesn't really matter in pve, pvp however is a different story
in terms of pvp, avrora will give you the most trouble with defenses, with the younger servers trailing behind a lot
if you want an easy pvp experience, go with lil e. the youngest EN server as of writing, not too bad for newer players to play with.

if you know what to do then you can try the older servers. Personal rec would be Amagi. Though i'd not do Avrora because of ToS since you mentioned that you used to play there
