Gem Spending 101

Gems in Azur Lane are fairly rare from an F2P perspective. However, the gacha in Azur lane does not require gems and their main usage is expansion of facilities like dorm, academy, docks and depot, as well as buying resources, resource packs, premium items (rings and name change), and skins.

As an F2P, you can get up to 4900 guaranteed gems (3750 for 3* clearing all 15 main campaign worlds, 900 for completing Bands collection and 150 for 8 days login campaign), not counting random gems from commissions or occasional bonuses from events or other sources.

Considering limited availability of gems for F2P players, even if spent exclusively on QoL upgrades, it is impossible to upgrade everything.

This is the recommended way to spend gems as an F2P:

• 3rd Dorm slot (300 gems)
• Dorm 2nd floor (500 gems)
• Dock space (remaining gems)

The main purpose of the dorm is for faster morale regen while grinding. Using ships with 0 morale will receive a 50% exp penalty and lose affinity.

The 2nd floor of the dorm will have the same number of slots as the 1st floor. While it lacks passive exp gain, it has faster morale regen. 3 dorm slots with the 2nd floor gives you a total of 6 slots, which is enough for your whole mob fleet.

Dock space is the biggest constraint for players. While this can help casual players collect all their waifus, there is also practical use in collecting ships - for later levelling to get their fleet tech on reaching lvl 120. These are important for players as they provide crucial additional stats that help players to tackle the hardest content (W14/15, H.Arbiters, CM).

Alternatively, players may consider getting the 3rd Academy slot for faster skill training or more dorm slots instead of just dock space (not recommended).

While players may opt to buy skins/rings with the F2P gems, this will come at the cost of QoL. It is recommended to only buy those with real money 💳.

There are one-time milestone events (e.g. first time beating chapter 13, first time collecting all Fletcher class ships), apologies by the dev team (happen almost once a month), and grinding (spending oil) hoping for random quests to show up that might reward you with gems.

wishing well is a scam. odds are super low and there is no pity.
the UR ship you select is pretty consistent if you actually drop and UR type of ship.
meanwhile SRs are very inconsistent. even if you hit the 2% SR drop it is not garanteed to drop your sleected ship.

I rerolled around 150 guest accounts. each account gives you from the get go 9 wisdom cubes. In my case I spent them on the special building so 4 pulls each account.
about every 27 accounts I was able to drop the selected UR ship.

Choosing a UR just sets it so that if you pull a UR you will get that UR.
If you’re going to reroll, it’s recommended you go for the shiny new UR Gotz. The permanent ones will always be steadily built towards via perma pity so you will inevitably be able to pick your favorite, whereas Gotz will be unobtainable for 2 years once she leaves.

also by deleting an account you don't actually erase it immediately. if you re-login in it in 15 days the deletion process is cancelled and you can still play that account whenever you want.
so you could delete account, make a new one, test it out for 6 minutes and try to repull for Gotz.
if you get her good, you keep this account and trash the old one.
or if you feel more confortable with the older account, you can re-login you older account within 15 days and you are fine to resume

The main thing is you go to each dark region, clear it out to light it up, then repeat.
There's also a bunch of beacons that lead to special one-time maps that give better rewards that'll pop up.

Goal every month is essentially light up all the maps (or at least 50 of the 72 but more is better) and clear all the shiny beacons (and swirlies but you won't see them until later so dw about it).

But your initial goal is to reach the point where you unlock the monthly reset, which is just hunting down the red ! (see "First Clear" in the doc). If you don't see one, the objective is usually to light up more sections and/or clear out some green beacons.

The first two problems are Helena and a non-dev 30 Shimanto. Other than that, the mob fleet ship choice looks very good, so it's probably a gear issue
