A: Map drop rates are unknown and cannot be datamined, due to being server-side. The only one known is 0.75% for Akagi/Kaga (individually) on 3-4. Community data collection suggests the other gold ship drop rates are somewhat similar, however.

Q: Then where should I farm for __?
A: Farm the highest map you can for it. Higher stages give more EXP, upgrade parts, equipment, and shop currency. Community data collection suggests the drop rates are also probably higher on higher worlds.

Although we already recommend different gear for multiple general situations, you can draw further strength by understanding when to use gear that's lower or not listed. Take my words with a grain of salt as I have neither and am a new player, but…
From what I’ve heard. it’s likely that the UR of the upcoming event is an Iron Blood which synergies well with Meck. Admiral needs either Sovetsky or Moskva to be used effectively.
So it depends on those factors. If you have everything, I’d recommend getting whichever role you need filled since both are useful.

best rates as of now is 14-4, 13-4 trailing behind. 12-4 is good as well

the thing with people not recommending 14-4 and 13-4 is that you will have to sacrifice 1 slot to a healer CV/L or a carry backliner in order to do 13-4 at least. Doing so would be inefficient to most, especially in a game where they expect you to have every character at lvl 120 at least for good bonuses that stack a lot

12-4 gets the distinction of being the best all rounder map because of so many variables coming together: good coins, decent xp gain, worst cogs (worst is better than nothing in this case), and most importantly, being able to level up basically everyone starting at lvl 90~ without much babysitting. That's why most, if not all people recommend 12-4. And it really is pretty nice

However, it's far from perfect. The stages I just mentioned are better for gold. X-1 stages starting at 12-1 and higher are best for cog chips (sans 16-4 with a special condition, this one not so sure though since no conclusive data yet). All a matter of knowing what to farm

Gem Spending 101

Gems in Azur Lane are fairly rare from an F2P perspective. However, the gacha in Azur lane does not require gems and their main usage is expansion of facilities like dorm, academy, docks and depot, as well as buying resources, resource packs, premium items (rings and name change), and skins.

As an F2P, you can get up to 4900 guaranteed gems (3750 for 3* clearing all 15 main campaign worlds, 900 for completing Bands collection and 150 for 8 days login campaign), not counting random gems from commissions or occasional bonuses from events or other sources.

Considering limited availability of gems for F2P players, even if spent exclusively on QoL upgrades, it is impossible to upgrade everything.

This is the recommended way to spend gems as an F2P:

• 3rd Dorm slot (300 gems)
• Dorm 2nd floor (500 gems)
• Dock space (remaining gems)

The main purpose of the dorm is for faster morale regen while grinding. Using ships with 0 morale will receive a 50% exp penalty and lose affinity.

The 2nd floor of the dorm will have the same number of slots as the 1st floor. While it lacks passive exp gain, it has faster morale regen. 3 dorm slots with the 2nd floor gives you a total of 6 slots, which is enough for your whole mob fleet.

Dock space is the biggest constraint for players. While this can help casual players collect all their waifus, there is also practical use in collecting ships - for later levelling to get their fleet tech on reaching lvl 120. These are important for players as they provide crucial additional stats that help players to tackle the hardest content (W14/15, H.Arbiters, CM).

Alternatively, players may consider getting the 3rd Academy slot for faster skill training or more dorm slots instead of just dock space (not recommended).

While players may opt to buy skins/rings with the F2P gems, this will come at the cost of QoL. It is recommended to only buy those with real money 💳.

Minor suggestions so far

• I would add a note to the Gacha Advice section that rarity (at least for golds and below) doesn't necessarily correspond to shipgirl tier rankings. Also, new players do not have to engage with the gacha right away as they can build a starter fleet without relying on gacha. This is explicitly discussed in the Main Campaign and Start Fleet sections, respectively, but this could be helpful if, for whatever reason, a player stops reading the guide after Gacha Advice.
• When discussing not pulling for perma URs, I would add language explaining that the opportunity cost of pulling for perma URs is using cubes that could go to new URs. Unless that's not as significant as UR Bulin gating.
