some barrages are centered on the ship, so placing them on the sides will cause you to lose half of the barrage
your fleet loses the battle when the flagship dies, so you usually want your flagship to be a battleship for survivability and suicide boat intercept

so it will do less to each individual wave of planes it contact, but if there are enough planes to engage across the map it may do more total damage

the problem comes when you factor in you're also likely to have less confirmed kills per wave the fighter contacts

Notes:

1. Event banner has higher priority than Wishing Well, since Events are time-limited and Wishing Well ships are permanent. There are 2 more UR events scheduled for 2025, plus any additional UR reruns, so spend cubes wisely.

2. Picking Light construction ships is preferred since you can build on it for your daily build for free. If you are missing ships from Special/Heavy (notably Submarines), it is fine to pick from those categories instead.

• Be careful about cube spending!

3. You can select a permanent UR ship (New Jersey, Shinano, Shimakaze, Ulrich von Hutten, Kronshtadt, Vanguard); if you select a UR ship, the other UR ships are removed from the build pool entirely. UR build rate remains 1.2% like normal.

• They can be selected for either Heavy or Special.

4. Picking permanent UR ships isn't worth it since they have pity. Better off picking other ships and building pity for permanent UR ships instead.

5. All Wishing Well builds count for UR exchange points at the usual rate.

6. If you already have all the ships listed below, pick ships for tech points / collection, especially from minor factions like NP, RN, FFNF/MNF, SN, DE. The game tells you who you don't have when picking ships!

Best Ships to Pick:

Light:

• Aurora - Top support option against DD / CL bosses.
• Yat Sen - Post-retrofit: top main tank when used alongside 1+ CN ships, and has decent damage.

Heavy:

There is nothing especially worth here. Only pick this if you need ships for tech points / collection (see point number 6 above).

Special:

• Aquila - A top support CV, especially for campaign stages; acts as a secondary healer with good damage (fighter-mode), or can be played as a damage-focused option (dive bomber-mode; not as recommended).
• Volga - A top support CV, especially for campaign stages; acts as a secondary healer with good damage.
• Essex** - Post-retrofit: One of the top CVs in the game, especially for campaign stages.
• Peter Strasser - With unique augment module: A top support CV, has a guaranteed stop effect for all enemies on airstrike, along with decent personal damage herself.

Essex is in Special Construction (Wishing Well eligible!), or available from the 7th Anniversary Invitation (see the pin below this).
Her retrofit item is available from daily missions that unlock throughout this event, similar to other login reward events in the past. There is a minigame involved but your score doesn't matter.

Amagi and Rumey also only have 8 planes and they're still very strong CV, 8 planes doesn't mean she's weak, what matter is the plane slot eff, how they distribute and how high her AVI is

Amagi for sure is a monster with those efficiencies though so I didn't scrutinize that tbh, although I do think of Rumey a little different (slightly hybrid) so that didn't feel weird to me. But I like that I was able to kinda guess most of her updates in my guild so not mad about it, but I had Yorky comparison booted up in advance (for obvious reasons) so I was looking for certain things

But all things considered, the AVI is a fair offset. Essex is a Fave so I'm invested in her being great

According to text, every time the shield is generated at start/after reload and then broken, not expire (highly chance to happen although kinda unnecessary condition to force delay/rng). So you effectively get 2 procs on first ~30secs for 6% total. But ofc won't be 100% naturally
