That's why Hood with augment is so much better than without it (since her skill proc rate increases to 100%)

A few reasons
One, on EN Ayanami can only be obatined after you MLB all the other 3 starters which can take some time given how their drop rate is from maps but more importantly it's not the starter you got at the beggining which already as levels and mats put into it so retroing Ayaami and not that ship is a bit inefficient

Ayanami is also not particularly strong enough to justify such a move, she's strong maybe but only against bosses and is reliant on good manual play to get the most out of her more than most ships

It's also important to remember why you're retroing your starter which is mainly to get through the rookie missions for the selector at the end to get Enterprise or Hood which if you don't have either of them because medal shop RNG said screw you it can be a not insignificangt boost.
