It’s like that for a little bit
Yeah ill probably get used to it
Try grabbing the hood
You think it’s structurally safe to do so?
Yes
That is big
First pic with the new lens
Below ideal conditions but its pretty sharp
Well its sharp on my phone. Discord seems to have compressed it
Nice
As usual
Should try birding
I need a camo wrap or something for the lens tho
I hate the white
Too flashy
Scares the birds away
Nah
Is possible to take with out the camo wrap
Just find some nice spot that you can hide behind the leafs
True
bro stopped at yvr while getting delivered
Google says Airbus A220-300
Still technically correct
But main assy line is still in Quebec
Not really, but it certainly attracts people who DO
yeah in like 2022
Cool lookin sky today
Idk budget but a7cr used is a huge value rn
Monopod
I got the hang of it now. Just takes some getting used to
øřëẽñj
Sony dslr?
Yes, and DSLT. I’m one of two people I know that use them.
:)
I absolutely adore them
Lowkey dslrs are the tanks of the camera world
Super long battery life compared to mirrorless as well
New 70-200 2.8 looks dope Nikon
Nice
I wanna go planespottinggg
Todays photo dump
Time to say bye to this old relic
Yer
Its got 35k shutter count so its still pretty new
Buying a new a6700 with whatever i get from selling this plus my money
The a6700 is a neat device. Allegedly not superb for long-term video (overheating), but for images superb.
I planespot so ill film probably only 1-2 mins at a time so shouldn’t overheat.
I just love how much is packed into such a small body. Also curious how good the AF is on it
touch the sensor so the camera will remember you in every photo it takes
Quackers!
Lunar eclipse last night
Lucky no clouds
Yeah it was great timing because it rained a few hours after
Do you get to see the lunar eclipse tonight?
Since you’re like a day behind
Love doing that
I love nature so much
Something so peaceful about it
Mhm
Lol the camo sleeve
Wheres the lens?
How is the camera just floating in the air?
Lmaooo
Honestly if my lens was black i wouldn’t have needed to buy one
Plen
Lovely
Cute
Found some old Australia day pics
Pelican
I lowkey hate my 70-350mm lens. The zoom ring is so stiff its impossible to pan smoothly
Cute face & pose, back right.
(From last month) Signs while waiting to ride Big Thunder Mountain.
The third haul of goodies for my favourite ride at Tokyo DisneySea. Super happy to finally acquire a shirt! All of the merch could be up to 21 years old, making it really hard to get now.
I'll have to take a picture of my entire collection once I get it organized.
Found pics of second and first haul.
Gallipoli barracks
Birb.
nice
How do you get close enough to do this
Im not
Probably like 1km away from the runways and taxiways
But i have a big lens so its no problem
Dump of snow overnight. Getting kind of late for this type of shenanigans.
Nice
So pretty
@jagged lake thoughts on the Sony a6000?
Really great starter camera :)
Has the same sensor as my Sony a77ii, which I took the car photo above on
And this
Lens matters more for quality but the sensor is REALLY good and it’s a great cheap camera with plenty of features
I've been thinking about getting one
Dewit
It's why I asked about it
It released in 2014
https://www.mpb.com/en-us/product/sony-alpha-a6000/sku-3709690
Thinking about getting it from here
like beano said, it's great. i use the a6400 and love it, i haven't done a deep dive on the specs but typically with these incremental upgrades the older you go you have fewer autofocus zones and other quality of life things like that. but the quality of photos will still be stellar.
in the 6000 lineup you don't get in body image stabilization until the 6500 and imo that's one of the bigger upgrades. with the a6000 tho you can just get a lens with stabilization if it is something that you need (not necessarily the case).
I have pretty steady hands already, but if I need to I'll keep it in mind with the lens stabilization
there are some long-recommended lenses from sigma that would do you quite well, depending on what you'll be using it for
Planespotting, night time shots, wildlife, just random things, etc
And maybe getting pictures of cars too. I just wanted something better than the camera I have now (which I need to sell)
yeah, and if you plan to do video at all with longer lenses it will also help with that. it's a massive help on the 70mm (105mm equivalent) lens that i use.
plus any sort of longer exposure will benefit too, which if you're doing night time shots likely will come up
My experience is 200mm with an APS-C sensor (about 300mm in full frame) is a bit of a challenge handheld so blimey you have that description dead on.
this can definitely be the sort of thing that you test and upgrade when you determine you need it, rather than chasing the ultimate/perfect/ideal, but don't be surprised if it does turn out to be of benefit for you
Stabilization can slightly help with darkness as well as you can push the exposure that tiny bit longer than without stabilization.
the one regret i have is that i really should have just sprung for the 6500 when i upgraded last, lol
Personally, I went the no-stabilization route with sharp and open lenses (f1.6-f1.8), not a lot of distance, but can handle dimly-lit churches like a champ. I am a bit sad that I can't do long-distance nature stuff well, but... I accept that limitation. So it does depend on your use cases.
absolutely
When I upgrade, it'll probably be either to a a6700 (IBIS plus the bigger battery, though with some overheating reported) or the a7CR (full-frame, IBIS, tons of room to crop photos due to a massive sensor). But I'm in no hurry. The whole a6000 series is great, with maybe a a6800 or similar coming up later this year or next year.
How much should I sell my old camera for anyway. It's a Canon PowerShot SX something or other, I don't remember the exact thing off the top of my head
the full frame stuff is niiiice, but man do i love the mirrorless form factor. i don't think i can go back.
The problem is, a6700 is already much thicker than the rest of the a6000 family, and at that point the a7C series isn't much different in form factor (C for compact, the viewfinder is at the top left corner).
i'm a bad resource for this, but search around and you should get an idea of what they're going for. i find that the sales subreddits (/r/photomarket in this case) are usually good for this.
The MPB and Kamerastore online places are also decent ways to find what the 'typical' price of a used device is. If you do sell a camera, be nice and include the shutter count in the posting.
What if I don't know what it is
It should be written somewhere on the device, probably under it or maybe in the Settings -> Device info. Or in the pictures' metadata.
By metadata, it is easy to check if you have a picture taken with it. Just open it and check file info:
I'd have to take a picture with it
At that point, just check if there is something written under the camera.
The metadata on my phone says what the shutter count is when I take a picture
Maybe, idk
Not sure
For a starter cam id definitely go with the a6400 or a7iii
2 super common and reliable camera bodies
Just depends if you wanna film or take pics
Low light id probably go with a full frame sensor though
Just pictures
Also how much are both of those
Give me USD
The prices can vary wildly, depending on whether you are willing to take used or grey market or are purchasing new. For example, a grey market brand new a6700 can be below 1100€, but an official local retailer wouldn't let it go below 1600€. That's like a 30% difference depending on whether you want a reliable warranty or not. a6400 would be cheaper than that, but still about 900-1000€ in official retailers, a7m3 probably around 1800€ or more even though it is two generations old now. American prices in general I think are a little lower than € prices in official retailers, grey market (mostly imports from Japanese market, sometimes need a language setting change) stuff I have no idea about in the States.
As for official retailers, sometimes the cameras are cheaper with a lens than without one, bundle deals are something to keep an eye on. Like, I've seen official retailers sell a bundle cheaper than body only, so even if the lens is crap, you're still saving money (+ you could sell the lens later though probably quite cheaply).
Notably, a6400 doesn't even have a backlit sensor nor IBIS (I don't know a7m3 so well), so darkness can be an issue, but honestly SONY is pretty darn good with darkness. I have basically the same sensor in my ZV-E10 and the main constraint are some extremely dimly lit churches or caves where I need a lens with an aperture wider than f2.8, meaning I have to switch to a prime lens instead of using a zoom. The vast majority of places, no sweat.
Also have to think about resell price once you upgrade. Lower shutter count = higher resale price
Which is funny since using the electronic shutter does increase the count, but doesn't really wear down the mechanical shutter that much. :p
Yeahhhh but fully silent shutter does cause distortion when you pan, especially if the sensor readout speed isnt fast enough.
EFCS is what most people use
Would probably count as 1/2 the wear as full mech
A7III (used 50k shutter) $850usd
A6400 (used 959 shutter) $710usd
These are sold items on ebay
My dad got his a7iii for $700usd on Facebook marketplace but for you id reccomend buying from somewhere where you have buyer protection
I use silent shutter because usually when I do photos I am either around people or birds, either way I don't want to be noisy or attract attention. And I just... don't pan during photos. 😄
eBay has buyer protection
The stock a6400 price feels a little painful. Compared to a ZV-E10 it has the benefit of a viewfinder, but can't be used as a webcam as easily (via USB). And a brand new ZV-E10 can be had for less than 700€.
Yeah so id probably buy from there
Or direct from sony
Or any online retailer really
There's also MBP for used cameras I believe
Whats that
Oh thats a us website so i wouldnt know
But yeah any reputable online retailers are good
I got my 200-600 lens from an online retailer as “2nd hand”. Was $700 cheaper than buying direct from sony
MPB is really good
KEH is good but their prices are bad
UsedPhotoPro is my local place, they’re amazing and I love them ❤️
They sell online as well
eBay is good for lenses but I wouldn’t necessarily trust for a body
Website link?
believe it or not, https://www.usedphotopro.com
That's not bad
Yeah
Kamerastore is also a really good one but they’re in Finland so with import duties they’ll be more expensive now
they send you Finnish peppermint candy when you order tho lol
It’s pretty good
I did not know that but that is so cool.
air canada mentioned
nice pan
Thx. Was my first time trying it
That C-130 Hercules is amazing
Did you see what i posted in #1375098888775536650

V nice
That is a huge lens for an APS-C camera.
Could almost photograph birds in a different country
Oof
i have a billion more but I feel like these are the slightly not bad ones that I took
very nice city even tho literally everything we tried going to was closed specifically on the days we went to them 😭

Hmmm i think i might get a tamron 70-180 f2.8 G2
I have no lenses when it comes to lowlight. Also cant afford a sony F2.8 lens
I have an 80-200/2.8 (Minolta)
I love it
But it’s hard to find a use case for it
I hardly use it but when I do it’s absolutely amazing
Was $300
Squirrel
Tried some long exposure
Light painting next hehehe
Oooo yes i gotta try that
I honestly said to myself, “what game is that”?
Then I looked over them again....

That beak is no joke
Its called the butcherbird for a reason
More birb
For a 30 year old lens i think this is pretty sharp.
What lens? Pretty good :)
crow with a cracker
looks like a video game lmao
like those hyper realistic mods or sum
got a few more photos but these are generally uninteresting
Canon 200mm F2.8L USM II
Prime lens but its from 1996
V nice :)
In my opinion, it looks good overall. A tiny bit bright overall, but that can be fixed in editing.
they were edited to look like that kinda
Oh, okay.
I do like the sand/dirt. Makes the stuff in the pic seem like it’s been there a while.
i mean yeah thats what it is 😭
old ass house
billions of rooms if it were built today it'd be an easy 10 million euro house here in portugal
https://www.mpb.com/en-us/product/sony-alpha-a6000/sku-3822002
Unsure if this is just the lens or lens and camera body
Yeah ebay is gud

Massive storm

Golden hour
That's a Blackhawk
2!
holy shit 3.4k 😭
meanwhile I'm complaining over 600 euro for a bike
lowkey valid tho
70-200 2.8 G2 costs that much 😭
Right but BIRDS
And I have 80-200 HS which is already incredibly fast
I do want a 70-200 but I would rather 300/2.8
My 80-200 doesn’t use the full focus area but neither does my 150-600 and I’d rather fix that first
Yeah they are lol
But I don’t really care
My 150-600 is a BAZOOKA
11-12 pounds when I’m fully kitted on my 99ii
Holy shii
you have a job tho
But it IS a lot less than the 12-15k of new lenses
F2.8 tax is real
I’m trying to get 20k saved lol
I'm "saving" too, except I'm saving up for nothing and that only makes me scared of having fun 😔
600mm f4 money right there
yes but what about a BMX think about it beano
I don’t bike much
However
20 pounds of camera gear on a trail with a bike
Sure
