#The problem (and solution) to Infinite Timed Raids

Infinite-health event raids might let top-tier players show off their max damage, but they’re exhausting for everyone else—especially mid-tier players and fresh Tier 10s. When you have three other events running at the same time, it just turns into an impossible, overwhelming grind. The Plight of Apollyon style is much better. By using a countdown timer and a specific time window to jump in, it actually gives regular players a fair shot at the whole loot pool. It respects your time and stops the top 1% from completely locking everyone else out of the rewards. What are everyone's thoughts?

I thought the apollyon raids were more likely to lock out lower level players from all the rewards. You get rewards compared to other player damage; so if one person does a bucketload of damage that you can't match in time, then you get less.

For the waygate raids, if you score 10 x hp in damage you get the same rewards as someone who has scored 2 billion damage.

@reef stone The Ornaversary raids don't actually have infinite HP.

Like Richard said, all you need to do is 10x their normal max HP (visible in the codex) and you get max rewards

#

The only reason to do more than that (and the reason you see people with 2 billion) is to flex on other players

#

Other players' damage is only displayed for fun

"all you need to do is 10x their normal max HP" is such a hot take. Like I get that it's easy for people who've got 100+ ascension levels, high end gear, but a fresh t10 is going to take hours to even get that much damage out.

#

Arisen Covyn for example has 13,290,000 hp. to hit taht 10x max hp is a lot.

It's definitely a lot, but he also drops really high end gear and you can still get rewards for doing less than 10x.

It varies class to class, but on Realmshifter even at level 225 with only gear available in the base game it's fully possible to damage cap the raids in a reasonable amount of time.

Northern Forge have to cater for players across all levels. It's not really a hot take to say that different level players should do different levels of damage to receive different rewards.

I did the Ornaversay raids last year as a high T9. I had to pick which raids to prioritise based on expected damage output. This year, T11 with 45AL, I hit max rewards on all raids in a little under an hour. Not a chance I would be able to get 2 billion damage like some players have managed. Next year? Who knows.

My question for you is why should a fresh T10 expect to have the same gameplay loop as someone in T11 with 200 AL? The T11 player doesn't have the same costs for 201 AL compared to the T10's 1 AL.

Not denying it's a lot of damage to do, just curious why you think that T10 and T11 should be comparable.

I'm simply stating that by saying "all you need to do is 10x their normal max HP" is downplaying how long it takes to get that much damage out.

In full context, me saying that sentence was replying to the person who started this thread thinking players who did 2b were stealing all the rewards
