The key (in my opinion) for crewmate roles is a high enough cap to make it where role claiming does NOT mean you're automatically clear, and encouraging imps to false claim/fake a crewmate role when convenient.

Engineer being the most obviously beneficial because there's your excuse for venting.

Other roles are less useful on the surface, but them being less likely to be faked also means when they are faked well, it's a stronger way to gain trust than claiming engineer.

Like heres how my hosting process goes typically: I host 10 player polus roleless. People start joining and someone goes out of their way to compliment settings. That gets a conversation going about roleslop and/or oldschool Among Us. Said conversation drives engagement and allows me to find the people who arent likely to mesh well with the vibe (start goblins and players who are just completely silent even when actively invited to share their thoughts)

Noisemaker makes no sense if they’re just gonna go invisible. Sure you can ask who was together but people in pub lobbies don’t answer your questions.

But I like being a noisemaker. My mission is to die the right place at the right time. Idk I find that cool when I succeed.

I dont think forcing imps to treat every kill with comms off like it is always noisemaker is particularly helpful for game balance. Imps are already at a disadvantage the more skilled the players.

Fair enough. Imo Noisemaker is one of the most harder ones to master. You have to be careful with your pathing and your choice of tasks order to do while also thinking about where to die while also not making it seem too bait for the imps. It’s a good feeling when imp gets screwed by noisemaker ;)

GA I find to be a good role for 2 reasons:

• It's something for the dead to do. Really we need another ghost role or two. They don't need to be strong like GA. Just give them something engaging to do.
• It shakes up the game with 1v2 or 2v3 left. Instead of an automatic imp win, the imp(s) need to consider GA and play around that, or suffer the botched kill. It turns an auto-endgame situation into something dynamic and eventful.

That said I keep GA at 1x, so imps aren't able to be AU version of stunlocked.

Also any crewmate that can kill an imp is by default overpowered. There are [high number] of crewmates. Killing one only takes out a small fraction of the team.

On the flip side, a crewmat that can kill wipes out 33-100% of the ENTIRE opposing team at once

It's like an imp with an AOE kill but crewmate version.

Imagine imp presses kill at lights and 5 people die. That's equivalant to a crewmate that kills lol

I mean you literally can just interrogate at random and instantly catch an impostor. It happened to me once and there was literally nothing I could do or say to get the crew off of me. Without the detective they had like no evidence on me, but with it they had everything they needed to vote me off

Even if it is just confirming a suspicion it doesn’t really take effort to do that either. You can see someone in an area, think "it’s possible they killed" press the button and now you have irrefutable evidence that they killed instead of maybe just a helpful clue to push in the right direction

In a skilled lobby if the body information from round 1 is reliable information a detective should always find an imp or confirm 2 weak alibis and further narrow down who the imp for the round 1 kill is.

In the highest level of play detective is broken and overpowered. To claim otherwise shows a lack of understanding of the value of hard information.

A detective that survives round 1 always trades with 1 of the imps. (because no way in hell the imp's teammate is gonna let you live after you come out as detective)

I met someone a while ago who wanted a 2 minute cooldown. On the kill timer. I told them to change their filters.

still not the have all end all. if you have shapeshifter, the detective sees whatever color the shifter was at the time of the kill, not their true color. so red accuses blue. purple was shifted into blue. detective interrogates blue and sees "blue was there at the time of the kill" off blue goes into the aether. and purple wins.

also, that doesn't account for just happening to be in the same room. let me regale you with the stupidest game i've seen in ages (i usually play a mostly private lobby that we allow guests (pubs) in to fill when we need a few extra people)... lobby host has SEVERAL engineers on, in random amounts. and shapeshifter on. i get detective. R1. maroon reports and instantly shrieks BLACK DID IT without saying where the body was. instantly 3 people vote before any discussion happens. it takes three times, the final one being in all caps, but we finally get thru to the accuser that there is a shapeshifter. (I SAW THE SHIFTER EVIDENCE. SO IT WAS CONFIRMED, NOT JUST A MAYBE) and he's finally like "oh. whoops..skip." nope. too late. black takes a lava bath. i interrogate maroon... he was where he FINALLY said the body was. i sus him for a selfie. so i ask him if he SAW the kill the previous round when R2 starts. before he can answer, someone else is hard accusing blue "I SAW HIM VENT!!!!" again 3 people instantly vote. no discussion no thing. just . AGAIN i need to repeat it multiple times that we have engineers. plural. too late, he's gone too. now we're on 7. one more kill happens, and before anyone votes, i say "if you all vote instantly this time, i'm strangling someone"... the reporter completely refuses to say where the body is and randomly accuses someone else. i vote him. someone else says "vote pink" (me). i get voted.

3 crewmates voted. 2 imps still alive. because people were STUPID. and it turned out maroon was a crewmate too. he just happened to also be in electric when the kill happened. so detective did not help me at all, even tho i know how to use it.

i called it a night after that disaster of a game.

Well if a vent motion is seen that usally means that imp has commited to a kill using that vent network.

Sometimes you will see a body falling over and a vent flap. You now know the killer is in the vent system and not anywhere to be seen which is huge information to be armed with in the meeting as it should produce a lot more clears than usual.

Next round: Shapeshifter red shifts into blue and detective checks them. The detective will see the result that blue was in elec despite that not being actually correct

If blue didn't have anyone to back up his alibi of nav then he's very suspicious from this result and detective can be successfully bamboozled into pushing crew.
