As usual, public lobbies are still trash - business as routine. And even the so-called “good ones” are barely passable at best. I'm not about to hop into some 15-player circus where the settings look like they were picked out of a hat.

First thing I do when I join? Settings check. If anything looks off, I'm already halfway out the lobby. I've got some kind of weird mental checklist, and it's not up for debate - Visuals off, Anonymous Votes on, one (possibly two) emergency meetings max. Anything more than that? That's just room for chaos spammed by people who can't hold a thought.

That's only IF I feel like spending all day finding a good public lobby.

14 players is fine… that's if my lobby is REALLY good. I get fixated on 10-11 players if not.

I have. The problem is that it's barely active. Not because it if were active, but because that I expect every player to handle this kind of lobby setup if not they're banned in which most people would already be banned because they can't handle a “expert” lobby.

That's their own lobby what makes you think out of all the people actively posting there would mean that they'd conveniently find MY lobby follow the lobby rules, and actually to not be a prick. You acknowledging my needs doesn't necessarily change anything, have you ever understand the complications of hosting lobbies and that if they do not like the settings I specifically chose for this particular lobby that they would get kicked off?

I'm not entirely against you, though I have hosted a few lobbies here and it surprisingly worked well ONLY because I made it public, just a few people joined it through the Discord and about half of which left the game because of how my lobby was which was ridiculous to think about but it made sense because they too, were a noob. And they would actually had gave the lobby a try if they were actually an “expert” imo.

That actually can happen, even if it sounds ridiculous. If you're mid-game and get randomly booted out during a meeting - yeah, even as host - you can be kicked from your own lobby. It's a weird quirk in how Among Us handles vote-kicks.

And in rare cases, hackers or connection issues can boot you too. Either way, sucks that it happened, but you're not the only one who's had it happen.

Host is just another player when not in lobby. As it should be. Votekicking needs an overhaul though

Barely anyone in the average public lobby even knows how to utilize the vote kick mechanic in which if a button troll - trolls. Usually, you would want to kick that said user but instead majority of the lobby just votes them out which a) it does solve the problem, but I still prefer booting them.

Because Scientist is a glorified battery bar babysitter and it contributes almost nothing in the bigger picture unless used by someone who actually knows how to read vitals and connect the timing to locations, players, and movement patterns - which most don’t.

Half the time they’re camping vitals, saying “X is dead” with no clue when or where it happened, and by the time they do speak up, it’s either irrelevant or leads to a dead end. Worst case scenario? They’re dead early because they couldn’t multitask. Best case? You get one lucky callout and then… nothing.

Tracker, on the other hand, gives you actual investigative power. It forces active map awareness, timing, observation, and deduction. You can’t camp in one spot - you have to move, watch, and notice anomalies.

You see someone vent, loop, or run away from location(s) of a dead body? It’s all about live reaction in accordance to what happens on your map, not waiting for a screen to go red. And that’s exactly what makes it more skill-based and more reliable in the right hands.

I would use it to make calculations of how old a body is, when players XYZ are all near reactor side, and player B dies suddenly I dart and look on the other side of the map to find him dead in nav, so I report the body. And since I know that players X, Y, and Z were all in Reactor side when player B died, that leaves one player: D, since he has no alibi nor a reliable location to go with I know that he probably went to nav to get the kill but I also know that the kill happened and player D could've easily ran back into reactor side to blend in but I know when a player has died so that will not be happening.

but seriously, the only reason scientist and noisemaker aren't revered roles is because they require crewmates to think critically to properly use them; engineer, tracker, and guardian angel are roles that give crew more leverage rather than tools so they are preferred more by people that don't want to play Among Us like the detective game that it's supposed to be

even tracker is less preferred among those three roles because it requires you to track the right person and be patient if there's a tracking delay; engineer is the cheap stuff that everyone loves because now you can catch up to the impostors and catch them by surprise

And I personally think is good at it. It offers some risk-reward when going invisible because of the initial and late cloud, BUT, the trade being literal invisibility.

SS is the more agressive role, Phantom is support or for assistance, regular Impostor being the more flexible option.

In actual experienced lobbies asking where is a stupid question. The person who is reporting will say where the body is. They may not immediately say where for good reasons but they will say where the body is. The issue is any public lobby is NOT that.

That rule only makes sense if the lobby is flooded with people who spam “where” instantly without giving their own info first or even thinking critically. But banning “where” entirely? That's extreme, and honestly counterproductive.
If someone dies while reporting, or the kill was off-screen from the reporter, how the hell are we supposed to figure out what happened if we can't ask where it was?

The actual issue isn't the word “where” - it's lazy players who treat it like a reflex instead of giving or requesting real info. A good host should encourage proper phrasing or info-first behavior - not ban essential gameplay dialogue. “Where?” isn't the problem. “Where” as a first and only word is.

They don't have the haunt ability as ghosts do so they'll have to rely on ghosts/sight in order to figure out who the impostor is

Sometimes the angels can be useless altogether

If you accidentally protect an Impostor or the wrong person, welp you just costed a crewmate a life
