Ofcourse its not said to follow the exact colour scheme each time a guardian gets replaced but khazard did have blue-ish eyes like Udea and the watery form before corruption matches Serius' who is speculated to be a guardian right?

Is this lilith just being lazy and not following past lore, or a result of dismal descent mentioning very few details like gold wings due to the puzzle being 4 colours only unlike now where we have purple suns, moons and levers like in the Voyages

One thing that hasn't been talked about is that khazard's real purpose on destroying the bastion of element. He was demonized by and worked for a sleeping monster which he saw under the deep ocean. Hence we can kinda interpret his real purpose of shaking up nature balance is to wake up this mysterious being. With the elements becoming unstable, the sleeping monster eventually wake up as you see in chapter 40+

Personally, I think either Gorvo, Lyca or Tasi. Gorvo fits the bill the most to me when it comes to the water element and story (and my theories lol), but he doesn't really fit the "fan favourite" most other awakened heroes are (except maybe Ezizh). Lyca is a darling of the devs, and Tasi is involved in the storyline through Ezizh, though I think she might be awakened later on. I'm not as sure about Wilder as I was/am about Mauler and Graveborn though-

Not all the awakened heros are awakened by an elemental. Ezizh wasnt awakened by elemental guardians, talene isnt an elemental but her whole thing is fire so, and thane and brutus were given emblems from elemental guardians. That leaves water and wood between the two remaining factions of graveborn and wilder. Also there's 4 awakened rn so I'm not sure why you'd think there wouldn't be any more even if it was 5.

Yes. so far, Thane and Brutus are the only ones who have awakened thanks to the elements. Ezizh was awakened through the absorption of dreams, and Talena through the fusion of her energy with the energy of Astar.

Mega-quick walkthrough. First go in and change the language to chinese. The game will restart and download the language patch. Then go and screenshot whatever lore you're curious about

I use the google translate app for this, but if you don't want to use google there are plenty of decent translation apps with text recognition. Just click the camera option, upload the screenshot and you got it!

Of course machine TL isn't a substitute for proper translation, but the MTLs nowadays are good enough to give coherent text at least

The only other possibility I can think of is Lilith introducing the elemental fire guardian as a new hero, and have them represent the emblem themselves

So the deal is quite simple, if you want to sell merchandise, and being a multibillionaire company, the selection of the manufacturer and distributor is quite important

If the book only covers up to walker then desira was the third most recent hero added at the time, which I guess is related?

Ok now I'm looking through her wiki page and apparently that design was also used on her dolly's corner comic, her animated emotes, and there's even a nearly final draft of her sprite. Must have been a pretty last minute change. Too late for the art book apparently.

Guess so. Though it's kinda funny that they even released mehira's skin as-is if they thought desira was too much (and successfully changed her before release) just a couple months earlier. They also never actually changed the sprite itself, while they did desira's (though, I'm just noticing, they didn't actually add the more spiky bits to the clams)

Finally received my books. They look nice. Have only gone through a few pages. Fun to finally have some proper(ish) dates for some lore stuff

So it’s currently year 1703 or thereabouts. The Ya were created around 2300 years ago? With the Wilders being founded 2100 years ago, and the Maulers around 20 years later

Orthros is 2055 years old. Morael and Audrae are 2029

lmao. Only took 20 pages to find some big mistake. There’s one section here in the timeline that talks about Alna’s involvement in the first Hypogean wars, followed by a section about how Dura created the barred gate and won the war. Or at least that’s what the title says it’s about. The text is just the Alna section again

The stuff with Thoran being betrayed and Bantus becoming a GB kingdom happened earlier than I expected. Year 998, so over 700 years ago. I don’t remember if the lore in game ever alluded to that but I guess it makes sense?

The book answers the big question about Khazard and Seirus. The latter was born in 1616 after Khazard’s corruption. Contradicts Respen’s story somewhat but alright

Despite only covering up to Walker, the lore explicitly makes reference to Scarlet when talking about the Violet Orphanage, so I guess she was already in the works. No mention of Anasta when talking about Skriath’s unification and finding of a common enemy in the Lightbearers though. Guess she came later

Book uses the Sonja and Kalene spellings.

There's a bunch of interesting stuff here but honestly it's like less than 100 pages worth. Not sure it's worth the hefty pricetag on that alone

Rosaline was apparently developed alongside Oscar, and was conceptualized as an assassin as well

(going through some interesting concept stuff)

Oscar, for his part, was apparently going to be some kind of demon

Raku and Pippa were also seemingly conceptualized together (there is no individual concept art of Pippa alone). She apparently had a more humanoid appearance at some point. I'm glad they went with the pure squirrel

Raku is consistently placed before Respen when characters are listed, whereas everything else is in order, so I wonder if he was supposed to be released earlier

Oden and Silas apparently have a shared concept ancestor

the book also answers some big questions about the identity of khazard's corruptor, the void realm (dark star realm?) and its background. I'll go over this briefly

The two original beings in the universe were honas (representing order) and lutos (representing chaos). Honas created the universe, countless planets including the land of esperia.

Lutos learned that the fate of the universe was death to entropy, and decided to accelerate the process. To stop him, Honas sealed him in a dimension of his own using an artifact known as an "astral key" which drained him of his power and eventually led to his death

Even though he was sealed, Lutos was able to influence the outside universe, turning beings into Hypogeans out of their negative emotions and innate yearning for chaos. Esperia was peaceful, so it saw very few hypogeans. Other planets were overrrun, "died." and turned into dark matter that lutos then absorbed into his dimension, creating the "void realm"

He still needed the astral key (which Honas had entrusted to Dura) to break free, so he sent incomprehensible beings known as "Reclaimers" out into the universe to do his bidding and claim the key

One reclaimer, Uemiss, came to esperia. He used his influence on primitive humanity. Most were driven mad by his "whispers," while those that survived gained higher knowledged and formed a civilization that worshipped Uemiss as a god. The gods battled with Uemiss and eventually trapped him at the bottom of the ocean, suffering heavy casualties as a result. (the civilization would later be banished and erased from history by the gods, but they would continue to worship their "true god").

Much later, Uemiss would be the one to corrupt Khazard, instructing him to wait at the barred gate where Dura had sealed the hypogean hordes. In the present day, Khazard used his power to help break the gate open, fulfilling his purpose after a century of waiting

Also, I forget the chronology, but Dura turned the Astral Key into the 7 Artifacts, and dispersed them amongst the mortals so the hypogeans couldn't get it

Lutos is also presumably the being Oden was influenced by after discovering the void realm

So that's that mystery sloppily explained

...I tried to reread seirus and gorvo's union story in the book, but turns out it's incomplete (???) so I had to pull out my phone like a chump

But, anyway, the union story is apparently of the time immediately before the barred gate is broken. The war between maulers and lightbearers gives rise to a ton of negative energy. Khazard senses this and notifies Uemiss, who orders his "minions" to attack the land. Seirus and Gorvo drive back the first waves, but eventually they are forced to call on the aid of the gods

The gods and elementals have their attention diverted on stopping uemiss, leaving the barred gate more vulnerable, allowing the hypogeans to break free

Also, because the gods had made a contract with dura to stop the hypogeans from doing exactly this, they suffered extra when this happened, having their powers diminished and turning into demigods

Yeah, I'm confused how Gouldos fits into this. Maybe he's one of Uemiss' "minons," or Gouldos is just another name for him....

Gouldos is in the book in the npc concept art section, but I don't know if he's in the lore parts. I haven't read all of it yet

The description of reclaimers as incomprehensible beings that drive people mad would be pretty consistent with the lovecraftian design on gouldos and all his lore

I guess it's also possible that he's a separate reclaimer from uemiss who also stumbled upon esperia

Oh also, unrelated to all this, but a fun tidbit because it's something that sometimes pops up: it's confirmed that the people of Bantus were not and were never lightbearers. Bantus was formed by a warlike people known as the "Lenu," native to the western lands

Also, the Graveborn have been secretly pulling the strings behind a lot of stuff that happened in the story. They had Baden assassinated and orchestrated the war between Maulers and LBs. The Maulers defeated the LBs, but Skriath decided to offer peace because he was aware of this

I've always been saying that Gouldos is from Dark Star Realm, but some people just didn't buy it. It can be proven through his name in cn.

One of oden's skill is called "journey to the black domain" which is another name for dark star realm. And gouldos is called Black Domain Whisperer. Go figure

Oden also possess a key that leads to dark star realm.

So to recap axcofgod's sharing, Honas and Lutos are archenemy. Honas sealed Lutos in Dark Star Realm. Lutos sent Uemiss (probably Gouldos) to Esperia to help break free of Lutos. Uemiss helped created an entired extinct civilization. Uemiss was then also sealed away in the dark abyss deep in the ocean. Uemiss corrupted Khazard to help break him free from the dark abyss. Uemiss is free and we see him appears along with the dark dream world on later chapter.

Chapter 28 in cn strengthens this lore. Unfortunately, it has not been translated properly

One theory that I've had in mind is that Since Lutos's dark star realm is always referred to as containing the birth of the universe, and consider how afk writer takes inspiration from Lovecraft's works. I always thought Lutos is the equivalent of Azathoth. In lovecraft's universe, Azathoth is said to be in a dreaming state and he dreams out all of the reality. Once he wakes up, the universe will cease to exist

After all, what could intrigue khazard to become so corrupted
