I remember that one. I even tried removing armor/weapons/stats/etc. and using my crappiest guy but he just kept dying. I did have the keys, but the time waiting for/doing whatever task he had was super annoying. (Take heart, though, eventually you won't have to do tasks anymore, though I'm not sure what kicked that in.)
