So I dont see how that would be worse than Rift Slug

It's not worse than rift slug(but it just gives the option to neglect divinity for some time)
You can get many bonuses by just having a setup for it(like coral kid, assigning your gods good, and caverns)

But getting to coral kid is quite a lot of time and unlocking all the gods as well(without buffs)

If I had a doot i'd try to trade for the entire shallow waters set since its in rotation and is far cheaper to get. It of course becomes far harder to gauge when it comes to exclusives that aren't currently in rotation or fallen spirits (out of rotation and how knows when/if it'll come back).
