Do you ever step away from your game for longer than 2hrs? If so, yes. Is there a key/clutch artifact that is on an island that's <6 hrs (fury artifact is the first one that comes to mind)? If so, probably yes.

In my current state (all ancients up to where i'm at, starting on eldritch arti's, don't have all islands) I cannot do <2 hr trips unless I want ot be stuck for 3months farming speed mats.

There are "guides", but that line of advice is literally what it all boils down to. Here is my current setup (I am not setup properly).
From my setup, I generate 49 red per cycle but orange needs 60 per cycle. My orange generates 30 per cycle but blue takes 44 per cycle. So I need to elvel up red and orange some to have overflow.

So technically for a while I will be red/orange starved if I want my refinery running as much as possible

If my orange power per cycle was 45 then I'd literally have 1 "spare" orange per refinery cycle. Which means a super slow build up of spare, so obviously any bigger gap, the faster I build up my "spare" oranges for upgrades.

My refinery was good but I scuffed it recently pushing an equinox dream lol. Now it'll take me a bit to get it back to a smooth machine.
And the 2nd tab (green/pink/nullo) when you get there will be almost isolated from tab 1. Green uses blue salt, but I believe it runs only half the speed (maybe slower?) of tab 1, so you don't really have to worry about your blue salts producing more than green takes in.

use the talent that reduces skill level requirements for killing crystal mobs then go do the skill either active or balloon up to you really. depends what else you are doing. certainly skills go faster with candy/balloon than not but dealers choice id say
