Say you have 5 boats and 10 chest space. With unending, you get 9 treasure per claim (but these treasure chests might be better)
without unending, you get your 10 chests of loot, but also your boats will do more one lap and wait with a full chest, for 15 total chests

The shiny pets that boost your refinery speed are: Bored bean, Whale and Demon Genie. Arcade shop, with golden balls you can upgrade refinery speed but it's rotative so i don't know when it will appear that one

I just remembered. They also decide which souls you "produce". You can either start with the lowest tier soul fragments (red) and let them turn themselves into higher tiered ones (orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white) or directly make better ones. On that note, souls need to have a chance >0% for that to work. So you can always turn red soul fragments, into even white soul fragments but to ultimately get white souls from a full cycle, you want a 100% chance on that soul, or at least as high as possible. Producing a soul that has a 0% chance is useless unless you care about a soul beyond it but then you can just create those soul fragments directly without the upgrades (except white souls). One is for the % chance, and the other is for creating the soul fragments...not sure which was acolytes and which was cultists though.

1. loot capacity. sailing artifacts are main w5 progression
2. w5 skill xp. you'll be sitting on divinity for a while, and skill levels help so its good to get it started early
3. respawn. portals get huge in w5
4. boss armor. recommended to save 5 points in preparation for boss armor, that way you'll be able to unlock all the pieces without having to do additional tasks
5. tab4 talent points and star talent: you might be low on elite tab talent points and stats when you're new to w5 but there are other sources. you can prioritize these over boss armor if you're not confident in crafting later armor
