sounds like a glitch to me unless the chance of ghost not breaking free is random
ik placing a t3 cruci guarantees that but it also stops the hunt which is bad when media hunting

The only #known-issues is that the ghost straight up won't appear sometimes

If you were using T1-2 sanity meds, they take a a bit to take effect. The only "normal" explanation I can think of is your sanity was still in hunting range at some point in the house, the ghost started hunting, and you summoned the hunting ghost to the circle.

Failing that, it does sound screwy.

I have a question about the Onryo and candles. Does it count that you re-light one candle 3 times or do you need 3 different lights in the room at time. Learning how to use smudge sticks, looping, and effectively hiding. Preventative measures like crucifixes and watching your sanity, keep lights on, etc

Play safer I suppose, try and locate hiding spots at the start of the game and keep an eye out on ur sanity. 99% of the time looping isn't worth it, especially if you're a new player

what i like to do is after i find the ghost room i scan the area for any hiding spots to run to during a hunt. and i’ll keep a smudge on me in case i need more distance to run to hiding

Putting firelights around helped me a lot to do less, also try to have a crucifix in an area that u want to run towards, not just where the ghost is

when there are walls to block line of sight, i use t3 parabolic to see how far the ghost is from me, and blast my radio when i know a normal ghost should be able to hear it (9m), from there i can continue using the t3 parabolic to see if the ghost has redirected its pathing to find me or not (when it's not already obvious)

Well, if you're playing on 3 evidence, then yes, if the ghost throws it then it doesn't have Writing.

But on 2 or less evidence, throwing the book could also mean it's hiding that evidence.

Lowering master volume could also backfire if you have grace period, since having grace period on means you can briefly hear where the ghost is. Not only that, but if you tend to listen to footsteps to determine how close the ghost is.

oh yes very good looping spot. you can loop any ghost there without smudging for as long as you need with a few exceptions for slower ghosts that are still fast enough to catch up

I'm not an employee I wouldn't know where the issue is but it'll get sorted regardless. It is the weekend so I couldn't say how fast but we appreciate the patience

techinically if you are using t1 thermo you can see freezing

and if it's a mimic and you're not the host you will not see special blinks like oni blinks or deo blinks or obake shapeshift, dead or alive. only the host sees the correct blinks. good way to identify mimic when the host and someone else have conflicting observations on blinking patterns

tbh the setup is just wasted time when the ghost doesn't do anything, just turn the lights on in the main areas as you go and your sanity should stay good for a while. keep the lights off in the ghost room when you find it so that the ghost can interact with stuff to its full potential and is not hindered in any way (ghosts CANNOT throw things (emf 3) while lights are on in the room)

i have had this. go to recent players menu in the journal/pause menu and use the block/unblock buttons there to block and unblock the person you cannot hear. the block/unblock buttons in the actual lobby by your ID cards will not click for some reason so has to be in recent players menu
