i play on professional so ghost rooms can rarely change (pretty much never for me) and roaming also doesnt happen too often in my case. well on nell’s ghost seems to always be roaming and there is no ghost room because it is just everywhere all the time. my friend and i find the ghost room as always set up equipment, 2 crucifixes and the ghost just haunts outside of the ghost room or it literally just spawns on one of us and kills us despite 2 crucifixes and incense. we always do a perfect game on every other map but cant seem to survive nell’s lol whats the deal with it are we missing something? it cant be bad luck when it happens every game and only on nell’s

Take my words with a grain of salt but you might not be perfectly aware of where all the room boundaries lie. Sometimes it’s not obvious where one room starts and another ends, or you might also just be prematurely guessing where the ghost room is and being incorrect. You could always confirm ghost room placement with Ghost Orbs if the ghost has them but otherwise it can be hard to tell

I have noticed this on Nell’s more than other maps but I also haven’t played in a while so idk

Basically ghosts can only kill you at certain sanity points, so you need to keep your sanity up. Make sure you stay in rooms with the lights on to avoid losing sanity. Once you can afford them buy crucifixes which prevent hunts if the ghost tries to hunt within their radius but can only be used twice.

Igniters and Incense can be used to temporarily avoid ghosts during hunts. During hunts avoid speaking or turning on electrical equipment and find hiding spots.

So while looping you're free to use electronics, but make sure they're not active in your hand while crouching

Best thing you can do is just go setup a custom game of tanglewood with sanity 0, and the modifier set to not lose items on death (optional Tier II headlamp for light), and go practice a bunch

Out of curiosity what is people's opinion on the sound sensor? I've mainly played small to medium sized maps, but I found the only time I really used it was to "triangulate" the ghost's position in singleplayer during my first runs when I was a little more scared of the ghosts, but that wasn't the most fun or fast method and even though it was safe, it only gave me a general idea. Does anyone know any tricks with it?

Anyways, I try to get a recording of the candles snuffing out, but I notice it hadn't done any activities in a while, checked temps again, and it was rising (between 10-18) so I was like "Oh it changed room so we can cross out goryo", we looked around we found it was the bedroom just on the other side of the wall. Fast forward to her seeing the dots on cam in van, meanwhile I didn't see it, the found the last evidence and we were like "Wtf Goryo? That's impossible"

I am both proud and ashamed. I just recently started doing Nightmare difficulty.
I did my set up, and quickly got ghost writing. Then my cross (T2) burned out SO fast. I figured I could test during a hunt. Cause I was like "I don't know if I can complete my media with how quickly this wanted to play hide and seek" and with the hunt I found out it was fast, needed a double take between obambo and moroi, and it hunted quick again, with little delay. Made my decision on Moroi and was proud of myself for getting it with only 1 objective, but ashamed that I didn't feel like finishing the media or the objectives.

I have a question about lighting, sanity, spirit box, does your sanity's depletion based on the room or based on rays? And does the flashlight affect any of that?

Flashlight does nothing for sanity

Some rooms need all lights to be on to stop sanity drain

Gotta learn via map what ones need a few light switches on or the room full bright

And spirit box must be in darkness alone is also best.

And a motion sensor to get close cuz range is a butt

And if you didn't know keep lights off in room ghost is in so it is active

it used to be based on light level but the constant calculations were dropping performance hella and now it's more basic logic "if player in this room and light on in that room then xxx"

If you mean it started from 5-6 away then slowed down fast yes it will hit the 3m limit of its ability and can seem like 1 second too fast when it zooms to the slow point

theres actually a custom setting you can do that will help you get it faster. most people get it in under an hour.
