Like if I looped around the kitchen island in tanglewood with my flashlight on but stayed crouched and out of LoS it would always follow me but it would never speed up?

You said you play on 11x multiplier, that's 0 evidence isnt it? If so, and you don't know all the ghosts, why are you playing without evidence. That is why your games are taking 10-15 minutes, you're likely taking twice as long to get the answers you need. Realistically if you're playing on 0 evidence you only need to do 1-3 hunts. You'll either get your answer within that time, or you'll narrow it down to the last handful of difficult choices like mare, jinn , goryo etc and you might aswell just guess and go to the next game at that point instead of trying to figure it out

It's the boring way to play but if you're trying to finish the event the fastest then its just the quickest way to do it

If you're new that you need 3 evidence to work out the ghosts, that's completely valid and fine, not everybody can and should learn the ghosts inside out. I mean I actually think once you do know them, it makes the game less scary and it starts to feel tedious to play rather than fun and spooky. I do also agree the way events are sucks it would be nice to be able to finish them easily in one event period instead of across multiple years. All im saying though is that its only taking you longer than its taking us due to the difference in how we all play, not a bad thing at all its just simply how it is unfortunately

You dont need to learn them? Open the cheat sheet in your browser or on your phone, and just tap along with the sound of the footsteps. It'll literally tell you the exact speed the ghost is moving at, you can do it from a hiding spot

Yeap, if you wanna learn the ghost (excluding the new ones) I would tell you to learn only the fast ghosts, learn the difference in behavior (not footsteps) of rev, deo, Moroi and Thaye

After that learn the 3 msit important blinks (phantom, obake and oni) Then you get Jin by seeing sudden changes on speed, u get Hantu if ur outside it's room and u can outoeace him by walking.
U don't need to know footsteps for twins if you know how they interact with objects, and then the rest of the ghosts have behaviors that doesn't require of footsteps

Mare has the chance to immediately turn a light off as soon as you turn it on. Mare's can't hunt in a room with lights on
Yurei can only fully open or fully close doors, if the ghost slightly closes or slightly opens a door but not all the way you can rule it out
Oni is super visible during a hunt, the blinks are shorter so itll almost look like it never goes invisible at some points
Jinn speeds up when far away from you, in line of sight and the breaker is on. If the breaker is off or broken though, this ghost is powerless so this is a difficult one

I started playing 2 weeks ago, I'm now level 78 and playing on nightmare and I'm (MOSTLY) just fine. The only thing that I seem to struggle to hear the difference with that is based on the event is if the myling is on a krampus model. The jingles still sound quite loud to me as opposed to on non jingle feet maps.

Mare: turn on as many light switches as you can around the ghost room, if you do this repeatedly after each hunt and never get a light to instantly turn off then you're either unlucky or got a mare.

Yurei: leave all doors half-open, when the ghost is not hunting and touches a door, run towards it, if it didn't fully open or closed it then rule out Yurei.

Oni is more visible than other ghosts, if you can see it without loosing track of it then it's likely to be a oni (it doesn't to the most event, and it does more events than other ghosts when u r in his room)

Jinn: turn on the breaker, hide away from the ghost. When the ghost is walking by a hallway, show urself to the ghost, and if it instantly speeds up but then slows down as soon as you loose line of vision it's a Jinn

So if the ghost is literally throwing 2 things a second for the entire hunt its definitively a poltergeist. Not only that, but poltergeists have increased power with their throws, so if they're literally launching the items they throw as well then it's just blatantly obvious at that point. You being bad at deciphering a poltergeists throwing during a hunt does not make poltergeists ability not obvious

The best way to get XP and learn ghosts odd behaviors is x10 or x6 (in case a single evidence might help you rule out some ghosts)
But playing with a broken breaker is just torturing yourself... If you're playing x11 for the xo multiplier is still would be better to choose x10
