Having to downgrade a setting in order for a ghost to behave as intended doesn't really sound like 'working as intended' to me
if you're quiet and the ghost still hunts at 80% so you have to change your settings so that the ghost behaves as it should, tells me that the ghost isn't working as intended

It's difficult to say whether the game is actually "broken" here, it might just be your mic sensitivity is way up and just picking up ambient sounds, or what have you

They can and are working on different things, they have different teams working on different things. Art teams will be working on character stuff, maps, assets. Programmers will be making the things do things (to quote Lavender). All of it will take varying amounts of time, it's not like prioritizing something necessarily makes that thing release faster, and that's the deal with Unity 6 upgrade for example.

i do casual games, when i do naughty/nice list with my settings i can get like 30-36 points per game but it takes 10-15minutes each based on rng

if u want speed run games, do 1 hunt, do as many tests u can in that hunt, 0 sanity/evidence, guess and go, get any boxes on the way in/out

the best objectives for a speedrun are repel/escape a hunt, cleanse, and maybe video/photo if u have others to help u out

Like I said earlier, they've not been working on it for the whole 5 years, and they've not had "networking staff" for the past 5 years. 1st year was just DK, 2nd year they had 3 people (2 programmers and an artist),3rd year 4 people (+1 artist), 4th year up to like 10 people, and only this year they have 40 people (not all working directly on the game). They have made adjustments to the lobby with time, and only last year-this year they've planned network rework (you can see on the Trello for yourself).

Because the cursed items and tools use voice rec and that is a different system than VC. Your mic can be ready but voice rec not be working properly.

ok so the ghost stepped in all 3 of our salts whcih were next to each other outside of a hunt, and it was a gallu; clearly the state change isnt instant

The game was initially built by ONE person, and released in September 2020 by ONE person, without the expectation that the game was going to be as popular as it was. Heck, DK couldn't even afford the servers when he released it, it was more of a passion project by someone fairly new into the dev space (comparatively). You can look up interviews that he's had, so they didn't just start out as some uber, professional gaming studio, a lot of the work was learning as they go.

And I'm not saying any of this to insult the devs, I think they're amazing to do what they have

The game is in early access, it's cheap, so you can expect unpolished elements until 1.0 release. That's just how the early access cycle works

To no discredit to the singular person who has worked on this game. There is other indie developers that I'm sure have had similar circumstances and similar conflictions to their developments.
It would make a lot of sense to me to cater to being able to play the game you made rather than crunch out content to an unknown audience, but we are here today and it's going good needless to say.
Just wish there could be more polished things rather than console or merch to worry about atm. I feel that I am not alone in this feeling

They're having to balance qol, content, bug fixes, performance and work on many things at the same time, and having to deal with issues that crop up as they go. We on the outside can criticise and go "well they should have done it X way, it makes more sense" but the truth is, we as the players do not know what goes on behind closed doors. I, on a personal level will 9/10 give the benefit of the doubt and assume the most reasonable explanation rather than the most pessimistic

Btw even though I am saying what I say, or someone else says what they say. It is feedback that the devs listen to.
Without it, there wouldn't be anything to go off of. If the Devs at Kinetic games choose not to listen to anyone no matter what, that would be a different story.

I was leaning towards thaye because it's been quiet for a long time and my sanity is down to 30%

again, but, it's been passive for a long time, and I don't know how often obambo flips

the CS says every 2 minutes, which means the obambo has been calm far too long

Put a crucifix and circle it with 3 candles, if it lights off 3 candles and under 7 seconds after that it burns the crucifix you're dealing with an Onryo, also Onryos are the only ghosts that can turn on the candle they turned off under 20 seconds. Note: All of this need to happen in its room so pay attention if it changes rooms while you're testing for it

I wish kinetic were less thrifty in their distribution of them. Why do we not have them in the lobby? Why not in every game by default? I do love the present system, it brings great vibes of the Halloween witches brew to the formula, which I appreciate. But I feel kinetic have not kept on the ball for arbitrary fun. We used to have coloured glowsticks in the lobby. Hell, there's a reason we got all those games above the staff room! I feel they've lost touch in actually bringing festive fun to the events unconditionally. I'd be in full favour of needing to piece together the gun from sunny meadows, then we just have it for all future games. Leave krampus to give us spare equipment.

Believe it or not shade is one of the sneakier ones because it has to leave the room you're in to hunt so a lot of people will be in the room gathering evidence and because it took one step out it's now hunting and blocked your exit

Onryo I can help with: you're probably trying for 3 blowouts + a hunt. That's problematic for a number of reasons, but it's much simpler to test in hunting range with a single firelight and a T1-2 cruci. Keep the firelight lit, and relight it immediately if it's blown out. If it's blown out twice in under 20s, confirmed Onryo. If it burns the cruci while it's still lit, confirmed not Onryo.

Remember you want to try to keep yourself crouched and have your flashlight on you so the ghost tracks that instead of you directly. Tanglewood is good for practice. Using the island or table you want to try to start at the corner near the sink or phone- provided the ghost room isn't the kitchen. If it is, use the table and be at the far end. Let's use an example though with the island with the sink corner. Say the ghost walks in from the hall and turns left towards the phone. You want to sprint to the right while the ghost is moving to the left. Your sprint is best saved for the longer parts of the island and you walk around the shorter parts. You want to try to mirror the direction the ghost is going- it goes right, you go left but remember the ghosts are coded to where they are taking the shortest path to get to you so try to keep your distance or the ghost will double back and that's when you may need your smudge.

Of course. Crouching to avoid LOS is exactly why we do it. One more thing about looping ghosts- before a hunt begins try to find hiding spots as well. If you get something like a revenant, gallu or other fast ghost it may be safer to smudge and run. If there's doors on your way to the hiding spot- close them. It breaks LOS

I'm so used to just ignoring the random breathing down my neck that I didn't really process it was early high activity? If it had been doing more blatant events or throwing stuff around I might have clocked it as a young thaye. Oh well. Learning has occured, and that's why this game is fun
