from what you have said so far, it is pretty clear that it was not hunting and it was just an event. a hunt should last a lot longer than an event, exit doors lock, and light switches are locked. events generally turn off the lights of the room it starts in and shut all the doors (with a few exceptions) as soon as the event starts but a hunt will not turn off the lights nor shut any non-exit doors. there is also (depending on settings) a grace period where you can hear the ghost hunt sound but it does not appear or move that alerts you to it being a hunt.

i thought it was a gallu! it was slow almost every hunt but the first and two others when it was just normal speed. because we were doing 0 evidence we didnt find its room (just happened to spawn near us!) so we didnt lay salt or crucis down, therefore it never hunted while engraged (fast). it only interacted with salt or incense while hunting, speeding up during the hunt (though it kept getting stuck so we never heard or saw a speed up). it would start the next hunt slow, stay slow (unless walked through salt or incense). the only hunts where it was normal were after the ones we didnt incense or use salt on it

Nope a car doesn't have short edges like a kitchen counter so (in my experience) you run out of sprint faster AND you'll need to rely on your hearing more since u can't really see the ghost from the other side

A good way to rule out an onryo is to light a flame and place it on top of a crucifix and if it burns the crucifix while the flame is still lit it can’t be an onryo

If you look around the map you’ll notice new christmas-themed items and a naughty/nice list right outside the map. Complete the list by finding the corresponding items on the list in the map and throwing them into the bag. If done successfully you will see it marked off on the list. If failed the bag will close and shoot out a coal present.

If you die you will not obtain any points for correct ghost and multiplier bonus. If you fail the list the ghost speed will increase by 15% (this does not stack with blood moon)
