I think part of the problem is you were looking out the window and had DOTS on, room lights off, so you might not have noticed the grace period as soon as it started. In terms of the time it took to reach you, that's 100% possible based on cruci position

It's the now-classic CWW 1-hunt speedrun. Step 1 is knowing how to ID all of the possible ghosts in a single hunt. This is the most important step. Set difficulty to 12.97x (there are several variations, that's the OG), go in, get one hunt, guess ghost and leave. It's about quanity over quality, turning over games as quickly as possible.

Madixx, Justly and a couple others created and used this strat to get the world first Prestige 20 in 5 days after Ascension dropped back in August 2023

Now, with media from Chronicle (as well as players getting insanely good), the meta is to take at least 2 people in, use T3 incense to stunlock the ghost and collect as much valuable media as you can in that one hunt. Elite players play it at a 14.47x multiplier (that's 150% ghost speed and 75% player speed no sprint).

I have a possibly annoying question, im flat out horrible at this game, Im level 20 and I have a decent but of hours, nothing professional just a days worth or so, are there any tips anyone's willing to give for the most newest of new players that might help me in the future? Like items to bring in first, what to check for first, patterns to look for etc. That'd be a great help

It's a good idea to start by bringing in Thermometer and Video Camera
If you have a tier 2 Thermometer, you can start by checking temps
If you only have a t1 Thermo, then it's better to start by searching for Ghost Orbs
If you don't find any, use the Thermometer to find Ghost Room, if you did find Orbs, it's still a good idea to use Thermometer

Confirming whether or not the ghost room has Ghost Orbs narrows down the list of possible ghosts by about half

So thermometer and video camera, sounds pretty good, I do not have the tier 2 thermometer although I was able to try it doing one of the challenges but I do not know how to use it

In my personal opinion best things to bring in first are the temps, video camera and dots. (If youre playing with others, have a set thing of each person choosing the main items to bring in and set up). Then, a crucifix, and salt and UV, see if they'll step in salt to get the UV evidence as well as recording the ghost stepping in salt.

Not me, I haven't played that long, and by now I have about 60% winrate if I choose to go for more than just finding the Ghost Type (optional objectives and perfect investigation), if I just try to find the ghost, then I have about 80-90% winrate (the rest is if I do something stupid)

Onyro test with 3 firelights, have a cruci next to them, if they blow out the 3 in succession and the cruci burns, its an Onyro

There is odd occasions where that won't work cause it can get a little glitched but thats my go to for figuring out if its an Onyro

Both of them are the same in terms of movement speed, right? So if I try to loop 'em, none can screw me over with how fast it is outside of LOS

Yokai is kinda blind, so can get a distance and it will wander everywhere unless you speak within a certain radius. But yeah, just LOS speed.

3 candles are the definitive to be sure. As the 3 causes the hunt, so having the cruci is good. But 2 gives you a good idea as it'll blow them out in succession

last night i lost 2 games because i ran into the ghost, lost one time because it spawned behind me, and one time it was a wraith that started a hunt in the most close area

My first death was against a Demon, since it used its ability, but it killed me 3 seconds before I could get Doom Slayed achievement
My second death was against a Yokai, I got so nervous after it started really speeding up that I lost track of it and accidentally ran into it 😳
My third death was against a Moroi, I mistook the hunt for being just another Event, by the time I realized it, it was too late 😭

A deo close to you is slowed to a crawl. Literally just keep walking and you're fine. Even on apoc 3 you're still slightly faster than it

Well, now that I survived a Deo as well, all I have left is to survive a Wraith and then I have all achievements for discovering ghosts
