it has a favourite room but it can walk outside it
if you're finding the favourite room, you've made a good start

on Professional and above it can not only wander outside its favourite room a bit, but also change its favourite room
on Amateur/Intermediate it will always eventually come back to the same favourite room

Well at first i just go around the house looking for ghost orbs and if i find it in a room i take all my equipment there and i test with thermometer and just camp there with everything else

i think you've got the right approach for finding the ghost room
or at least a good one for t1 equipment for sure
so you're good at getting orbs and freezing
but not good at recognising DOTS
how about writing, EMF 5, UV, Spirit Box?

DOTS will be totally silent and not typically accompanied by door movements or lights switching off (unless the ghost randomly chooses to do one of those things)
whereas events will slam doors and turn off lights consistently

writing you just need to make sure to place it, not drop it
and do that early because it can take time
then wait

Spirit Box isn't your fault
even if you are doing it right, T1 is kinda awful
make sure the room lights are off and walk around the room while asking questions is the best you can do

Tent doors also won't tell you if they're yurei or not. Switches in outdoor rooms are far away and rarely within range for Mare checks, and there are many, many other nuances…

i can't think any other reason but someway a setting of either voice, toggle, or txt got changed. It also doesn't answer random questions. It takes verbal statements and attempts to choose the closest programed question and answer it. Number locations to avoid the question is: Maple Lodge, any Sunny Meadows (restricted or full). all other maps don't have numbers in their room names. Hope you get it figured out

This bitch shade was in the dining/wine room. Threw stuff while I was in the room, initiated multiple hunts while multiple people were in the room.

I'm a newbie so don't trust me but from the videos I've watched, if there's an EMF 5 on the activity screen and it persists in a straight line for a long while, means it's an EMF 5

if it's higher than EMF 5, and it lasts for a shorter while or if it's long at 9-10, it means the ghost did a ghost event

it's there to give time for preperation, explore, find rooms and try to communicate with the ghost etc

since that's the way, I try to rush through those 5 minutes and find the type before the ghost hunts or smth

though most hunt below 50, some at 70 sanity

board is indication of entire location. it's isn't accurate and mostly not used by players. I believe those few that do use it, it's off by 1-3 or something like that.

shades can start anything outside the room and move into it. the items rang from the 'floor / room change". just like a house, they can stand at the door and play with the items inside. all ghost roam and start hunts wherever they are. same for shade.

PH's 'room" location is part way up the stairs. not quite half but if you want to see it's general spot you can hold spirit box and that split sec it stops being static is the room change. (weird bug but that's how i figured it out)

i'd say 'head height' but that is cause when i climb the stairs i'm looking across the floor (like i would in a real house) while I climb. So when my eyes meet the floor leveld (not higher) it stopped the static so now i don't use the spirit box.

If I were you. Find one fact about every ghost and once you get more advanced learn to loop the ghost while it hunts. Learn the different speeds of ghosts footsteps and other things ghosts do during hunts.

In a single hunt you can eliminate 17 out of 24 ghosts.

I just had a mannequin move and the ghost wasn't in that room. I even doubled checked the temps to make sure. I was so crept out after and every noise made me wonder are they moving. it wasn't the twins either and i don't think it was a glitch. so creepy.

I'm waiting for the day the ghost is in the kitchen and you go to the truck and come back to a doll at the bottom of the stairs looking at you or a mannequin praying in the dinning area with the busted table.
