Custom difficulties unlock at level 50. You can join a lobby with someone who is doing customs, or you can just play the highest difficulty that you can for the moment

I dont think it has to be instantaneous, I think its like hunts under 6 seconds or something but someone will have to confirm. But yeah I dont reccomend this as the test tbh because there are too many variables to go wrong. If you have all three out and aren't watching them constantly, a ghost might blow out one and another player just relights it without saying, throwing the count off. Or the candles for tier 1 and 2 run out eventually and then you might think it was a ghost blow out when it wasn't. For tier 3 there is some chance if you light three in quick succession that they all blow out under 20 seconds or something, and if you get a coincidental cruci burn youre badly tricked (this happened to me). Not to mention a coincidental cruci burn can happen in all the above scenarios. Do the 20 seconds test with one candle as others have said. Way less ways to mess it up, and coincidence isn't possible.

I think it's probably a bug, but you're not wrong

like the foil card has a command to remove the normal one, so when it gets unlocked first there's nothing stopping both from being there. A simple script update in a patch could fix it retroactively.

Are there any devs in this channel because Bleasdale needs to be fixed. Constantly on the ps5 vr2 anytime we pick that map we get booted from the game and get a ps5 error message. Its frustrating because we should be able to access all maps without getting an error. Ive been able to get in maybe 3 different times on separate occasions. 4 of us play, 3 of us are beta testers for another game, so we tried several different methods to try to get into it and all have failed. For a newbie, room lights are your friend if you're trying to keep your sanity up.

And just because it tends to confuse people: the mimic has orbs that don't count as evidence, that's why if you select orbs in the journal, mimic will be greyed out. It can still be a mimic, so do keep looking for mimic evidence if you have orbs

Always make sure you know where your hiding spots are. Leave a trail of lights to the one you want to use as your primary hiding spot. Make sure you turn all your electronics off during a hunt BEFORE you duck into your hiding space
