Yeah when that started happening to me I got in the habit of always switching off the default to something random and then back to spirit to make sure I get credit.

I just got 2 ghosts in a row that did nothing else than just switch light off in room and show freezing breath

No other signs, no movement through sensors, absolutely no activity on graph, did not sing or react to the music box and the sanity of my colleague did not move under 68% in dark, is this a known bug?

Tier three salt causes the ghost to stop and turn around so it should give ultraviolet if you get there quick enough But there's always that chance that a ghost will not walk so if you keep hearing the footstep sounds then you should be good to check and say it's not ultraviolet yes

Voice recognition is known to be a tad bit finicky, make sure you have the right mic selected and try around with system voice and voice settings

Orbs have been finicky for quite a while in my experience

You can check a room three of four times and still never see them, and only at the end of your investigation will you suddenly spot them

Always start the game knowing your hiding spots while also carrying EMF for ghost interactions.
EMF will allow you to ignore other rooms and just cover the majority until you hear the beeping (although this is T3 only, T2 you need to walk in the room and look for interactions)
You can also use video cams to find the room if it has orbs. That's another quick way
I usually don't use temps to find the room cuz it's slow cuz you have to wait for it to go down

Later in the game you will use LOS breaking spots instead of hiding spots as those are always available and cannot be taken, even on no hiding spots

My best advice is a camera (because of that darn photo), a smudge and a flashlight (if you feel you need it. If not then another smudge).

Know the map well. There are some places that aren’t official hiding spots but could help break line of sight.

The hardest thing for me is the patience is how slow we have to be as players.

However this is why I do always argue when people say Apoc isn't all that difficult. It requires a lot of patience, time, knowledge of the game, and a bit of skill

Apoc 3 is a lot of luck. Getting the right objectives is important. Knowing your ghosts, the zero evidence tells, and learning the hiding opportunities. Learn when to capitalize on the smudge, your timers, things like that. It's not something most people get done before their first prestige.
