AAA games can have bad optimization is also not an excuse for any other game to have bad optimization, I know that's not what you're implying but it's the only way you bringing that up in response becomes relevant
and the game being "early access" and "indie" does not give it an excuse, If you're making a project that's meant to be played it should not have memory leaks and bad optimization to the point where not only the game looks visually strange, your frames are significantly dropped!

Phasmophobia was released almost 5 years ago, and it's in a very bad spot in terms of optimization but not only that, Phasmophobia in VR is incredibly messed up as of right now. Phas used to be a lot better in terms of optimization (or at least being playable), but now it practically downgraded. If this is where we're at now at an "early stage of development" I can't imagine how that reflects the future of Phasmophobia.

This isn't meant to come off in a mean way btw, I used to be very passionate about this game as I played since release.

Early access is actually the "excuse" it's not a full release and we're in the active stages of development. The game is very playable and that's what counts, the game is incomplete, and it will eventually be fixed. Early access games are by definition not perfect and you should expect an incomplete experience. The game came from one dev to three to five and the game has just been growing with huge expectations that is difficult for smaller teams to actually keep up with in a quick an timely manner. They now have 30+ folks and are pushing out updates, performance upgrades are planned

Generally I’ve been playing on 9x multiplier on multiplayer, maybe I’ll raise it to 10-12x, but it always takes a while to find out what ghost it is

custom difficulty, select apocalypse 3 preset, then change ghost speed and player speed to 100% and the hunt duration to low and the weather to whatever you prefer I like windy.. then you just go to the campfire, light it, have 2 smudges with you, drop down some salt to rule out wraith, then wait for a hunt and observe the traits
