There is a range limit to the detection for local voice and radio/electronics.

If the ghost is outside that range they don't get closer

Using the monkey paw then the wish "I wish to be safe" will draw them from anywhere so it's a way to get them from further away

so, playing a bit ago with a friend. we came across the piano music organically that also happened to be the ghost room. and what transpired was kinda beautiful. with 0 sanity the ghost was just pacified it seemed. we truthfully did not even know that the piano music was even a thing. if the developers read this.... WELL DONE! that was one of the best moments we have had in the game yet.

My most common ghosts often shifting between Mare, Onryo, Banshee, and occasionally Yokai. Usually it's just the first two though. Onryos aren't too bad cause they're easy to rule out early, but I utterly loath Mares.
