My boys and I have been playing Phasmo for a bit - me online with friends, they together and with me. They had an idea for a new map and asked if I would share it, so here goes:

New Map idea = Supermarket.

Different areas of the market (Deli/butcher, produce (Fruit and vegetables), general aisles, check outs, back-room stock, a break room, and a restroom.

Sound recording: Ghost eating/crunching sounds
Video recording: Milks/products being knocked over to leak or spill
Can have UV Fingerprints on the checkouts, the doors to the freezer areas, lights for the backrooms, maybe shopping carts

Ghost interactions with the register/item scanner for dings, etc, Carts could move/roll, Food boxes and bags could be tossed over the top of the aisles or down the rows.

Seasonal decor could be added, including things like the marshmallows and drinks for camping, or lights and ribbons for winter and spring holidays, maybe pumpkins and the like for fall.

Hiding spots could include empty freezers, under checkouts, boxes in the back stock area or in aisles (left during stocking), and lockers in break room.

Lights can be zoned (central switch to control Aisles 1-3, Produce, Frozen, etc).

Looping areas could include the produce areas, checkouts, shelves in the back room, or the break room tables.

Paranormal sound detection will stay there for around 20s. If you entered the recordable radius while holding an active sound recorder, it will begin to play the sound for you. If you leave it there without triggering it with a sound recorder, you can hear the sound with the paramic instead at 16s after recorder detection. This is local so even if a player has already triggered the sound playing with the recorder, another player can still triggered it again or hear it with a paramic at 16s.

I used to love Phasmophobia. I played it for the ghost behavior – learning patterns, identifying types by how they move, how they react to sanity, how they hunt. I loved Deogens, Revenants, Hantus, Moroi and Thayes because each one felt different. The reward was in understanding them, surviving them, and pushing difficulty. I didn’t play for fast money – I played to think, analyze, and test myself.
Now the game feels broken for players like me.
The new system revolves around video, photo and audio evidence – but the game itself was never designed around that. Ghosts disappear, move unpredictably, and have short interactions. You can't realistically build a reward system around filming them unless the whole ghost system was rebuilt to support it. (For example: a Shade showing as a shadow on camera, or a Revenant shaking the camera feed – that would make sense.)
But instead, we have the same ghost AI, same limited activity… just stretched into 1-hour games. It’s not more content – it’s just more stalling. I'm forced to sit in the ghost room at 0% sanity for 40–60 minutes hoping for one specific event just to get a "Perfect Game" bonus – and often I still don’t get it. The reward system doesn’t respect my time, skill or risk anymore.
I’ve tried. I’ve played smart, survived, taken photos, even been hunted by a 150% Deogen. But I’m left with maybe $1,500–2,000 after an hour-long session. Before, I could earn that in 15–20 minutes by making smart calls. Now it’s gambling: either the ghost is active, or it’s a Shade that wastes my time.
So I’m stepping away, and it breaks my heart.
Phasmo used to reward players for understanding ghosts.
Now it only rewards players who sit and wait with cameras.
If the game wants to be a media simulator, it needs to redesign ghost behavior around that. Right now it’s just a mismatch – and it hurts to see such a unique game lose its soul like this.
