When I introduced a friend to the game, I made him play with only T1 stuff for the first several games, then T2 stuff for a while. T3 stuff is undeniably nicer, but it all works and it's good to get accustomed to the lower gear as well.

Audio is probably the best resource in Phasmophobia. Being able to hear footsteps, interactions, events, etc, it makes your gameplay so much easier

Side note though all of the equipment for the most part has something visual to help with deaf players and then of course deaf players would also know to download things like Sonic radar and other programs to help with locations or even footstep timing!

100% having a decent headset w/ at minimum dual-channel audio makes finding a ghost or knowing where it comes from so much easier

K some tips I can give you are 1. Never go on downstairs ghost I just wouldn't 2. Always slowly bring all of your incense, a parabolic, and photo camera, preferably photo camera and all the incense 3. Wait a while after the ghost hunts, the hunts can last either 50 seconds or 60 seconds depending on your difficulty options, I would wait until about 40-45 seconds, and then lead the ghost to you for the photo. 4. ALWAYS smudge before going for photo

Windows is just one other recognition that is used on pc which allows other questions due to windows recognizing them as the set questions already.
