when onryo blows out candles it keeps a counter. every time it blows out a candle it adds 1 to the counter and checks if the new number is a multiple of 3, if so should trigger the hunt ability assuming there aren't other flames nearby preventing the onryo from hunting. the timer never resets and only changes when a candle is blown out. if the ghost blows out a candle before you start testing with the 3 candle ability, once all 3 of your candles are blown out, the counter is at 4, which is not a multiple of 3, so it won't try to hunt
