Everyone gets their information from somewhere. Sometimes its random dev comments, sometimes its independent testing, sometimes its just some goober with a cheat menu. A lot of things we've "known" to be true have turned out to be wrong

I'm more inclined to think that the cooldown gets paused while it's in your inventory. if a candle gets blown out, you can pick it up and hold it in your pockets, and when you pull it back out, emf will still go off. i sat there and did it for 5 minutes and the interaction timer on that candle never expired lol

What I've learned is that we don't actually KNOW anything. Stuff has been tested thoroughly and turned out to be tested incorrectly (or even just lied about). Dev comments have been mistaken. And youtubers confidently assert things that aren't true all the time. Gotta be willing to change your mind and in my case test things myself if I can

When kiting a ghost, how often do you need to crouch to break LOS? And when it breaks LOS is the movement speed decay immediate or will it still pick back up from where it was prior to gaining speed with LOS (Revenant notwithstanding)

you should be crouched the whole time if there's something around to break los like a tall enough table

it takes ghost 13 seconds to speed up and 5x longer to slow back down.

I need to do more testing. But I spend a half hour with a Demon the other night at 0 sanity and it never blew the same light out faster than 22 seconds.

With an Onryo, not hard to do at all since it'll keep blowing out the same light every time it tries to hunt.

takes 13 seconds to hit maximum speed if you let it see you the whole time (65% speed boost in the end) and 5x longer to slow back down to base speed

Okay I don't know if this will work for you but it has worked for some people first of all make sure that you're in game chat in your console settings and not in party chat
Then make sure that it's all plugged in and on before you start the game.
And that's pretty much the only tips I have for you

One issue for me as well is T2 EMF, I can never, ever determine the sound for EMF 5 on T2. I instantly recognise it on T3 and T1 is just impossible based on sound

If you’re on a small map and a hunt starts the front door will slam shut (can happen outside of a hunt) but you will be able to hear it lock too

Another way to tell when it is a hunt compared to a event the ghost will not be blinking in an event. And you will be able to see it the whole time although it can have Shadow forms and be a little harder to see.
In a hunt if the settings allow for a grace period you will start hearing sounds and lights flash.

There's a couple of different ways you could go about this if you're having trouble finding the ghost room you could try opening the door and then putting some equipment at the door going back to the truck coming back with more equipment starting out with stuff like the thermometer the video camera to check for orbs and the EMF reader and once you start learning the map you'll be able to see objects that are out of place so you'll know that the ghost is at least close to that room cuz it's a possibility it did something through the wall then you can try to find the temperature being lowered and the ghost room which is usually that room.
You're going to immediately want to set up the book turn off the light check for orbs and Spirit box and then get yourself into the hallway or another room close by with a light on so you don't drop sanity.
Sanity management is a big one then if you have the video camera set up you can go back to the truck and start looking for dots if the ghost gives writing when you go back in to check the temperature again try the Spirit box again hope for some EMF interactions maybe get fingerprints.

I've never had that happen. The mare's ability is a chance to turn off light switches right away, though any ghost can do that, but the Mare tends to do it more if you know the cooldown and the general location of it. I'll link the Mare ghost info here so you can read more
