Well that's not a challenge problem that's a skill issue lol. Here are some tips:

Put everything you need in the foyer of the asylum before you step foot inside. I usually throw 1 crucifix in there also just in case it's a banshee/wraith/phantom or an entryway ghost.

Bring parabolic and have it on you with 1 smudge, 1 camera in case the ghost is closeby. Do not use the para as soon as the door closes, instead wait and listen if you can hear footsteps closeby. If not, then use para to locate the ghost.

Bring items systematically with you once you locate the ghost room and listen on para during each hunt to ensure it hasn't changed rooms or speed (indicating a mimic/hantu/raiju potentially). Listen on para and then listen off para to test for a myling.

Once you know where the ghost room is and have an idea of what ghost it might be, then you move closer with smudges/camera. Set a timer and once the hunt hits about 35 seconds, call it to you, smudge, take photo, keep second smudge nearby if needed, and leave.

Also. When you go into the house you first turn on the breaker, and then you do a first swipe with camera (or EMF) and if you haven't found the ghost room then you use the thermometer. You need to allow the house to warm up and the ghost room to cool down first.

That's the thing about the crucifix the ghost cannot start a hunt within its radius where you are doesn't matter

I mean you can hold the cross and throw it at the ghost when it's coming to kill you (and tape it I will watch) but yeah won't stop that.
