I don't believe so. If you look at this graphic, I placed a Tier 1 Crucifix in about the same spot you have it in your screen shot (the solid orange circle is the standard range for a T1 crucifix). You can see that it doesn't quite cover the corners of the room, leaving a space for the ghost to start a hunt from, which is where it looks like the ghost came from.

its easy to cheese if you want it. Just do camp woodwind 0 sanity ghost speed 200% player sprint infinite player speed max and get killed as fast as possible by ghosts over and over. If the ghost happens to be a demon, the kill doesnt necessarily count, but a lot of times it will as the demon ability can be technically triggered whether sanity is at 100% or 0%
