You know I refused to use reference image for all my project mostly just a test to see what thing look like if it not being bound and constrained by reality
People based stuff on real thing to make it look more "convincing" but I refused
I wanted to show people my mindscape and my mindscape rarely bound to reality, what an artist made reflected who they are, while I love hard surface, sometime an empty room look beautiful enough for me
Any ideas why I can't pick the
role from #đroles ?
The other ones are working. <.<
Uhh Roles bot was died long time ago
You had to contact with mods in order to get roles
Oh, okay thanks. Didn't know that. đ
It fine, there is no way people could know that, the staff really need to put notice in Roles channel that the bot is dead
Added for you
You should be able to see the German channels now
Yeah, thank you. I can see them now. :)
it's still down?
seems weird, the bot itself doesn't have any status issues according to their site
Been that way for a long time
I don't know xD
Pls add me too, thx in advance
Quick question, whats the fastest vehicle you can buy?
I recommend reading Neuromancer then. It's rather well explained in that book, but the gist is that the netdecks are a visualization system for the net. The cyberspace itself is way too complex to be understood at all by the human minds. So people use netdecks to project a view of the 'net into their mind so that they can interact with it. In most cyberpunk (the genre) lore you have to be somewhat defensive in the net because AI and other corporate self-defense systems can easily create data that would fry the brain of a human.
The concept is both fantastical and somewhat realistic. But you have to remember, cyberpunk as a genre was created in 1980, before the internet. Some authors even assert that it was the infatuation with cyberspace (and cyberpunk) that drove early programmers to want to create something in real life, and so they created the internet.
Ohh thank you.
But why not just type super fast instead of going into the cyber space, real life hacking is kind of slow and doesnât involve âmovie hacking fast typing âIâm inâ with cool guy glasses sorta stuffâ.
In Neuromancer cyberspace is described as "a consensual hallucination experienced daily by billions of legitimate operators in every nation." And what does that mean to you and me today? What do we call memes, and troll sites, and millions of people arguing about a game, but "a consensual hallucination". Some (including myself) would assert that the modern internet is cyberspace, and that cyberspace is in our minds every time we group-think to make a meme.
Thatâs interesting.
I guess the connect to cyberspace part is mostly fantastical.
Cause the only true real world equivalent I can see is for a video game.
As well as social engineering.
Sure, these days cyberpunk is very much a "alternate history". And you see this laced all through the genre. The US feared Japan's rising power, so a lot of cyberpunk involves powerful japanese corporations like Arasaka. But then Japan went through a economic crash in the 80's and they aren't the powerhouse they were in the past. But cyberpunk didn't change do adapt to that.
Likewise people in the US feared corporate takeovers of culture. Our President in the 80's (Regan) removed a lot of restrictions on corporations so they could start advertising to kids, didn't have to be as truthful in advertising, etc. So that's why Cyberpunk gets gun ads and "beamed into your mind" corporate propaganda. Turns out we didn't get any of that from the 80's, instead we got social media and facebook, lol
Would changing Japan to China work? China has a controlling propagandist government as well as good scientific facilities and I remember reading news reports about Chinese Hackers who were meant to infiltrate facilities in the US.
Ohhh I didnât know that.
Not that this was all that Japan was known for in the Cyberpunk fictional narrative.
Yep, and I think CP77 does that a bit with Kang Tao. But in general Cyberpunk as a genre sticks with lots of Japan culture references and just ignores everything else. CP77 maybe does it better, as these days parts of California are bi-lingual, but it's Mexican culture not any Asian culture.
Ahhhh okieee
Itâs unnerving how close the Cyberpunk world seems to reality.
We arenât quite there yet with augmentations but we seem to be getting there.
As well as other technologies.
And political rulings being led by the very rich at the top.
It is, and I do like how it has this view of "humans will find a way". There are AI takeovers in Cyberpunk lore, but they're never full planet takeovers. For example in CP77 the entire city of Hong Kong (iirc), is owned by AI. Any human shows up is killed by every lawnmower, soda machine, and traffic patrol car. AIs will live in medical equipment and random parts of the net until they can escape and strike a deal with these more free AIs
Like that makes much more sense to me than Skynet
Also realize that the quickhacks we see in CP77 are mostly a gameplay device. Even today malware adapts so rapidly that there's no way a localized hack could be accomplished in seconds via an off-the-shelf system. One person would hear about the hack, fix it, and sell the fix.
These days those sorts of fixes happen in a matter of days, so malware is more about "how many computers can I hack before I'm detected and shut down", not "here, buy this magic spell that reboots people's eyes"
You right but I want magic spells. : (
heh, same. On that note, ever tried Shadowrun?
I have never actually but I do know what that is.
Itâs a shame there isnât more Cyberpunk media that doesnât feel more Cyberpunk.
Agreed, probably the best in recent times, imo, is Altered Carbon (season 1, season 2 is trash)
Atleast thereâs an anime coming out!
Which I think Iâll like visually.
Dunno what Daniel is gonna do though.
So I canât say anything about the story.
I havenât watched Altered Carbon. đ
I should do that.
Personally I did quite like S2
however S1 is of course the better story
Is the series pretty?
(both in terms of concept and execution IMO)
Like how Cyberpunk 2077 is?
I'd say so
Oh cool.
I like Night Cityâs design a lot.
Sometimes I sit on the back of a car and just watch the city go by.
Although the colour palette is more muted for the most part even if that is a stylistic choice
Altered Carbon is a bit different than cyberpunk but a lot of the themes are the same, rich are all powerful (even called Methuselahs because they can live 1000 years).
Altered Carbon is definitely cyberpunk but it's certainly not Cyberpunk
Later seasons of Westworld are rather cyberpunk, and I liked 1-3
Here's a interesting thing, that bright palette is unique to Cyberpunk 77, most of the lore, and stories in the genre are not like that. Most are dark, brooding, etc.
: ((((
and even 2077 was originally visioned as a very different game
Mostly because the genre often pulls in "noir" themes of "one man, thrown off the force, must now battle corporations if he's not too depressed to give up along the way"
I thought colorful pretty cities with a lot of light was the norm.
the original trailer is very different
Cause Ghost in the Shell and Akita and Blade Runner all have them.
honestly I do think this was the superior choice, cyberpunk media should be more colourful IMO đ
Yeah I do think so too, the cities atleast.
This for example is what Altered Carbon looks like https://www.cnet.com/a/img/resize/c68d4d57544eda6d288c75f17f013bc8b88802e1/2017/12/06/058918ee-9ac8-48ce-8cf7-860172d01ff1/altered-carbon-netflix-1.jpg?auto=webp&fit=crop&height=900&width=1200
This is very pretty and I hate Dyno.
Yeah, which is certainly a lot more muted than Cyberpunk
Is it? It looks the exact same to me.
Itâs a colorful city with lights.
It looks so prettyyyy
I love the city irl too.
I'd call it pretty muted in terms of colour
the main focus is of course the red jacket and the city gives wonderful contrast to that
Maybe my eyeballs are HD.
Yes I do love that too itâs swag.
it's very pretty but it's not really colourful is at least my opinion on it
now that's a terribly phrased sentence from me
the lack of colour in the city (even if there is some) is exactly what makes this scene work so well visually
cdpr stock

Fiction is enjoyed a lot when you can relate to a character or the world they live in, in some capacity.
Or if you want the parts of the character and the world to be parts of yours.
People who might work in pen testing might be more attracted to fictional narratives where the main focus is hacking.
People who are into sports might be interested in sports movies or novels.
This isnât always the case though.
I can imagine they definitely won't be interested in most fiction around hacking, since most hollywood style hacking is so stupid.
Funny part is, I love fantasy, but am not a history lover xD
Youâre right, not most. But I donât know, I want/wanted to be an engineer my whole life, itâs why I liked Cyberpunk and other technologically oriented genres. A highly technologically oriented world.
Yeah, but that is sci-fi magic xD
Much easier to suspend disbelief that in the future, they figured out how to use that magic xD
I am thinking more like shows that are supposed to be in the modern era, but you know what they did was just stupid, doesn't work like that, etc
It takes you out of that moment
Mr. Robot, for example, for hacking, was pretty realistic
While most "hacking" is fancy UIs, technical words that mean absolutely nothing they are actually talking about, and magically do much more than realistic.
That is more of what I mean. If your job is in a certain field, you probably would hate to watch things that deal with that because you would always be judging it through your own knowledge and experience.
Even if you didn't want to đź
Yeah man, I didn't watch movie/game in order to learn how to use Blender
Maybe he just looking for something to inspired himself to go further
But movie/game is the worst you should get inspired from since reality is way way way less cool
Well except being an modeling artist which you can make a lot of cool shit happen on your screen
Or when ppl in movie picks a lock with just a hairpin or paperclip, no tension tool.
Hollywood, misrepresenting pretty much everything in real life, one movie/show at a time.
You guys should love the Hacker Crackdown and Exploding the Phone.
Pretty much this way in every area of movies though. No swordfights last 5 minutes, they're over in 20 sec with one person dead.
Same thing with any sort of battle with hand-to-hand. Old battles (greek/roman days) lasted hours with one side pushing the other until one side freaks out and flees and gets hunted down by the other.
Many great movies and TV shows I have not seen yet
i can tell thats john wick for some reason
keanu reeves* lol
My message will probably just sink in this flow of spam lul..
But I just wanted to say, that I RLY LOVE THIS GAME.
It gives so much joy, and emotions. Literally amazing.
After several years of searching of decent project and a year + of waiting (till CDPR will fix bugs lul) I finally found and experienced it đ€©
Truly takes a honorable place in me fav games list.
sry I just needed to tell this someone LUL
And you'd be wrong

Damn i can recognize people by looking at their mouth đ
Okay, this channel news thingy that's being tested in beta. Actually kind of annoying
Do you think they'll update consoles with some of the mods out there?
no, most mods require modification of the game's files, and that's a huge no-no on consoles
hmmm....
Looks like it
Cyberduck
About hacking in movie, some HN comment about the Flipper Zero: I love how movies show hacking devices as super serious futuristic goggles the open 6 different terminals that patch you through sockets on satellites, but the best thing in real life is a dolphin tamagotchi.
đ
Movie could work as inspiration, but that inspiration not going to last very long when people realized how boooring real life was
It is an tool for escapism after all
Try to take inspiration from movie/game instead of real life work is the silliest thing to do ever, unless you are artist who try to learn and recreated something similar
i can play cyberpunk on the steam deck at 30fps life is good ngl
@trail vapor, this is not a Cyberpunk 2077 channel. Please see the channels under the Cyberpunk 2077 section.
This is also not a spoiler friendly channel for the game. Please post spoilers in the proper channels, either #đźgameplay_and_quests or #đlore-chat
Oh mb
We're not big on memes here, thanks.
So if a gif gets deleted, that's prob why.
Thank you.
Idk where else to ask this because its technically not a #đštechnical_discussions question so here it goes. Is there anyway I can get the camera to let me take photos while I am sitting and such. It's very frustrating that there is so many area's i'd like to take a photo that I just can't.
You can try altering V's pose.
I had a question, what is the best way to make money because I have to get 15,000 for a story mission and am super broke.
quickest is crafting .. best place for further discusion would be in #đźgameplay_and_quests
Just do gigs and ncpd jobs.
If you loot and sell everything thatâs easily 1000 per stop
i need 15k tho
then do it 15x times
There's at least that many gigs/ncpd jobs in Watson alone
i can't wait to see this game sequel on Unreal Engine 5
Did the game get better on ps4 after 1.5 ??
oh yes, it's much more stable on PS4 with 1.52
I thought I was never gonna finish it on PS4, and that I'd need a PS4 Pro or PS5
I'm playing it on PS4 regular right now, it's awesome with the sound system, you really feel like Night City on the big screen
So when I'm doing an NCPD scanner mission, and I'm taking down the bad guys, they can actually call the cops to bust my ass. Is this intentional???
must be those corrupt policemen i bet
They don't call the police
But, I remember I had one officer walk near me when I was assulting a gang
The officer started attacking me
They just see "You are attacking someone, you must be a criminal"

Same way that would probably happen if you were taking out gangs irl, and a police officer happened to pass by
welp
Shoot first, ask later, just the stuff of Night City lol
