This thread is for discussing the Discord Server's changes, suggesting further improvements, and generally providing feedback on how to make the Official Forza Discord server better for everyone.

It's also worth noting that none of these changes are permanent or set in stone. The goal with this is to start with a bunch of pre-planned changes, see how they work, and continually adjust from there. We're hoping that moving forward we can try out new channels, archive ones that aren't working, and continue to evolve the server as we head towards Motorsport in 2023.

Would be nice to be able to enter livery and photo competitions via discord would save having to navigate the forums on mobile which in my opinion isnt fun at all.

Also perhaps an AH channel i know im not the only one who gets annoyed with all the AH talk in FH5 general its a racing game not an ebay sim and constantly hearing i want this car/buy this car/how much is this car gets old fast

This is less of a suggestion and more of a clarification question, will the new roles have colors?

Let me add that in for you 😎

I'm not yet sure of the purpose of #forza-general as a catch-all channel. 🤔 Looking forward to the Community section. kudos

Suggestion: A quick update somewhere about outgoing and incoming emotes of the server. motorsport

Channel visibility will not be dependent on role taking I presume?

Yeah I think you both bring up good points about the competition sections and submissions. I know that we're always going to run those through the forums, but I'm hoping to have some Discord specific ones in the future where submissions can be sent through the Discord using threads and such.

# sturdy sluice I'm not yet sure of the purpose of #forza-general as a catch-all channel. 🤔 Loo...

The goal with the #forza-general channel is to make it easier for new members to spot where to go to talk first. Between that and the #new-drivers-welcome channel where people can ask their "Hey I'm new questions." We're expecting it will help people who join from the first time feel comfortable piping in and saying hello or asking questions instead of feeling like they're interrupting in a very busy channel called fh5-general. 😄

Ah, thanks! That makes sense.

Discord specific competitions, sign me up 😍

Yea that would make a huge difference. Over the years there have been many cases where I have saw people accidently post in the wrong channels. Extremely common for fh4 players to accidently post in fh5 or fh5 to fh4 etc. If roles limited to what titles you have and limit the section it would definitely help declutter and make things neater. People in the past mentioned that the server seems to have alot of channels too. Roles limiting them would help with this too

#
  • Also for unverified maybe move them to off topic channels or a single channel to type in only maybe? As people tend to flood fh4s gen or other channels and cover with fh5 topics when they dont see the channel.... could reroute them to one location. Also if spammers or raiders do show up (which is fairly rare) it would be directed to a single channel and easier to moderate
#
  • Linking common support in a section for easy contact also may be helpful. (Report a player/ticket link, Forza Forums Wishlist/Official Competitions, job positions link as well possibly)
#
  • Alot of the big servers tend to have a ticket system to redirect to the big staff members. For example, the Xbox Ambassadors server uses something called "Mod-mail" (Elemental is the bot they use) which is sort of like a dm that opens up to members with a single role (for example Moderators/admins). I know that there is a ticket system on the official Forza website but it tends to overlook discord skipping discord based support here as well.

These are some good suggestions so let me see if I can give a quick response to each

  • For the verified/unverified I do want to improve this flow. Hoping to make adjustments in January after the initial changes have settled
  • This is going to be added to the Forza-FAQ
  • As for a ticket system that's something that is interesting that we might look into as the server grows. I've used them on the user side before, but we'd have to check and see if it's something that is needed beyond current player-to-player support channels or directly messaging mods during their active hours. Good call out though 👍

Thank you! Heres more info about how their mod mail works if you would be interested https://ambassadors.microsoft.com/xbox/blog/step-by-step-guide-to-using-modmail-in-xa-and-xgc-discord-servers

Having a limit to number of photos posted per livery in #forza-livery-archive would be nice, when people post half a dozen at a time all the stuff above will get overlooked, only 1 maybe 2 are needed for each livery posted to make it equal across the board and much easier to navigate

Slow Mode in the share your creations channels could help separate sharing with talking while it would redirect to the Talking channel could be the general discussion

sturdy sluice
#

Yes, I'd definitely support a Slowmode in the minutes range for the share-channels.

dense marsh
#

For sure!

primal root
#

Yeah that's the goal there by putting the discussion and the share channels in separate categories. To make sure that what gets shared is done so intentionaly and isn't just an image dump for feedback.

Shoutout to the Forza Creators Guild as they are the first server I saw implement it, but Discord has a new search feature where people can create a post and you can search the name/tag. I really love how they used it in their server. It makes sorting things by categories very easy. They can sort by day/night, type of race, tune, etc. Could be a neat thing to use for the share your ______sections and make them more accessible.

#

Like the track above I clicked the custom rules icon and the SantaCross shown up.... Though I am not exactly sure how easy it would be to moderate or specifics setting them up.... I could dm you the Guild Invite and you could talk to Twisted about it if you would like to speak to him/explore it more

Some sort of guides channel would also be cool, to direct new players to if theyre having trouble with certain aspects be it tuning/photography/colour matching/horizon tour times etc

Thats really cool!

I've seen some servers do it as a pin as well. So depending on how the #new-drivers-welcome channel works out it may live in there.

#

But I would like to have more resources available to folks since that's a big reason people join Discords in the first place.

sturdy sentinel
#

Fantastic, thatll be helpful to a great many players myself included, i dislike having to ask having a place to look at guides would be invaluable

That doesnt surprise me, still would be nice if there was a way to get AH talk out of general

I would except that it is such a big topic and also ya know in our game that we just want to figure out a better way to let people chat about it in a way that doesnt invite scammers/bots.

I believe you should have words such as dam-n allowed. I do think you can have an E for everybody environment, but it feels strict at times for a community that should be over the age of 13 as a requirement for even joining the platform of discord. (it might be unblocked now, as last time I checked was when the filter deleted me for it a while back lol.)

Oh and, make this a separate channel possibly!! it being kinda buried in fh5 specific makes it less available at a first glance. maybe put a server specific category for these more server-related things. As they're important to make available

#

Oh and, add something like the fm1/fm2 Logo as an emote. FMOG is labelled og, but technically isn't the og.
