How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Start the modpack you wish to fix. If it will not start, then click the in the top right of the app then select Run Vanilla Minecraft. In the launcher that opens, go to the Installations tab and choose New Installation. Choose a name and select the Minecraft version of the modpack you are trying to run (like 1.19.4 or 1.7.10). Once created play it by clicking the green Play button that appears when hovering over it in the list of installations.
2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
3. Find Minecraft in the list of running programs. It will be called something like Java or OpenJDK Binary. (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the Memory tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
4. Right click it and Open File Location
5. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
6. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
7. Under Graphics performance preference (called Custom options for apps in Win 11) select Desktop App
8. Click Browse
9. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
10. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
11. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
12. Click the Options button on the newly added option
13. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

Im playing the mod pack with my friends and its been fine for hours on end but today the game had crashed with exit code error 1 and i eventually got it to work by trying different things but ultimately opening it up with administrator and now hours after im running into the same problem with no fix.

Some mods can break at any time and that can be difficult to know why.
You can try to reinstall the mod completely, or try another version of it

For now I disabled the mod in curseforge and it crashed as it usually does again. Also wanna point out that I do get into the actual game and im able to run around for a few seconds before it closes with the error code

Some issues don't appear directly in the latest.log file, in which case we often get more information in the launcher_log; which said that the hs_err_pid file has been generated and often means graphic/ram/java-environment issues leading to a crash. The log indicates that in this case ModernFix was messing:
- final synthetic 'this$0' 'Ljava/util/HashMap;' @12 a 'org/embeddedt/modernfix/util/CanonizingStringMap'{0x0000000642fb0460} (c85f608c)

stack at sp + 7 slots: 0x0000000642fb048c is pointing into object: org.embeddedt.modernfix.util.CanonizingStringMap
The mod causes this problem in a few rare cases, I believe that mainly happens when Roughly Enough Items is additionally used.

1 ) say you are downloading something or adding something to your own mod pack, the client suggest this/these mods depend on these libraries/dependacies

and another idea/example

2 ) say you want to start modding skyrim, vortex detects to see if skse ( skyrim script extender ) is installed and offers a download link ... why not with forge? fabric? quilt? neo forge?

im new to making modpacks ( for personal use through create a profile ) and these features would be helpful

yet i think these tools will help anyone why doesnt know how to make their own mod packs

3 ) the assist/suggestion feature can be turned off and can always submit it through the curse forge client for verification and testing so its not entirely flooded

If I remember right that schematics folder is added by the create mod. Which are saved locally when users make then, even if on a server

As for when to export? You can export whenever you want, I tend to tell users to also use the exports as a clean backup option when making modpacks, that way if something breaks you have a working version to roll back it.

Hello, for some reason when I went to curse forge to play pixelmon it would only bring it up in a tiny square when opened and wouldn’t let me click anything and I reset the computer and now curse forge won’t open all the way it’ll be in my hotbar but that’s it.

Actually something you could try is select the process on your task bar, then try holder + Shift then press the arrow keys. Can be used to move apps in a window, just to make sure its not stuck off screen for some reason

Hi there!
Hopefully this is the right place to put this. I have been working on a modpack for Minecraft, and I keep getting this error when I try to change the name or what have you to appease the moderation system. It's odd to me that there are other modpacks, very popular ones, that use these terms in their names, but mine isn't allowed to for whatever reason.
Additionally, I have changed my modpack's name and description multiple times to fit the notice that keeps popping up for me.
If anyone could help clear this up, I would be very grateful!

How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Start the modpack you wish to fix. If it will not start, then click the in the top right of the app then select Run Vanilla Minecraft. In the launcher that opens, go to the Installations tab and choose New Installation. Choose a name and select the Minecraft version of the modpack you are trying to run (like 1.19.4 or 1.7.10). Once created play it by clicking the green Play button that appears when hovering over it in the list of installations.
2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
3. Find Minecraft in the list of running programs. It will be called something like Java or OpenJDK Binary. (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the Memory tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
4. Right click it and Open File Location
5. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
6. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
7. Under Graphics performance preference (called Custom options for apps in Win 11) select Desktop App
8. Click Browse
9. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
10. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
11. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
12. Click the Options button on the newly added option
13. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

How to install mods in the CurseForge app

1. Click + Create Custom Profile
2. Name it, select the required Minecraft version, select the modloader & modloader version (usually the highest number), click Create.
3. Click the profile icon.
4. Click Add More Content
5. Search and install the desired mods.
6. Start the game!

How to install mods that are not on the CurseForge app

1. Right click the profile picture or Open the profile and click the Icon next to the play button.
2. Click Open Folder.
3. Drag the mod(s) into the mods folder. (Note: Some mods will require others, to run. Make sure to read the instructions for the mod!)
4. Start the game!

For resource packs you need to zip the files that are needed, not the folder they are in.

So for example when you open the zip the first thing you should see is the assets, pack.mcmeta. etc. not a folder with the name of the project

Make sure your logged into the administrator account, otherwise check if you can download other programs, if your not able, would try temp disabling the anti virus.

Otherwise if you have a warranty on the pc, recommend taking it to a pc shop to figure out why the pcs organization is locking you out

Looking at the possible fix options, best 3 would be to either:

• contact bestbuys geek squad for aid,
• Find a different pc repair shop you trust for help
• Could try a CF ticket, but they may say to take it to a local shop

Deleting mcaffe doesnt always remove it, that "av" likes to leave hooks sometimes. Tho they shouldnt cause these issues unless something got really screwed with on its way out.

Best to try the options I listed, this is a software issue in the pc itself, would be better to deal with it in person.

vpn likely wont change policy issues. would need a tech to look at it. If you dont know what your doing, it can cause more issues to the pc. Which could result in the need to factory reset the thing...

All of a sudden, my computer stopped being able to load large modpacks. It seems like it can only load older and smaller ones. Hey yall whenever I boot up the curseforge launcher it tells me oops something went wrong seems like curseforge crashed unexpectedly

Hello when I start to start up 1.20.6 world from forge with no mods added it crashes.

I get this error: -805306369

I have tested this out so far:

Starting different version in the 1.20.6 such as 50.8, 49.8 etc.
-Same effort

Used different versions such as 1.20.1 and 1.20.4
-Was able to play with no error

Took off the mods from the 1.20.6 version
-Still get the error

Tried modpacks that were oin different versions such as 1.20.1
-Game loaded no errors

It seems when i try to start up 1.20.6 from forge or the launcher it crashes within 15 seconds.

I noticed that the curseforge app doesn't have the latest version of the minecraft replay mod for 1.20.4, so I downloaded it from the home page and put it in the instance's mod folder. Problem is, there should now be 12 mods in the instance, but the app still says there's only 11

1. Click Create Custom Profile in the top right.
2. Click the import option at the top.
3. Find the .zip file of the export and select it.
4. The CurseForge app will now attempt to download and unpack the modpack.

hiya, i downloaded some shaders for minecraft on forge, when said shader had downloaded i clicked play. When i had loaded into the game, all of my worlds werent there and i couldnt join any multiplayer servers. However when i open minecraft launcher without pressing play on my shaders, i log on to find that i have no shaders atall, almost like i have two separate minecraft launchers. Is there any way i can still have my shaders but also keep my worlds and be able to join multiplayer servers. Thank you
